Well I'd say considering he is a HOF'er with multiple National Championships he has proven what type of coach he is. Sorry to be mean but it's a dumb comparison. It's like Comparing Dabo and Muschump as head coaches, not close.

I TUed you for furthering the discussion.
So his close game record is--what? irrelevant to his greatness? Are we supposed to give him a pass for everything this year because of one player's injury? Should Tarheel fans--and the AD--give him a pass because he is old and less invested emotionally but hasn't figured that out yet? Maybe we're excusing him because he's not the one actually shooting 1-7 at the free throw line?
Or are you simply saying that HoF coaches are held to a lower standard than mediocre ones?
I'm curious about your response. You're a pretty straight shooter.

He is saying that Roy has been bad for 1 out of 50 years while BB has been bad 7 out of 9.

So you're saying that having a bad close-game record is still a valid reason for calling someone a bad coach, even if he makes no real effort to change it.
So getting blown out in a loss is still better than losing closely.
Ah, got it.
Ok. Thanks.

I'm saying that if we won 25+ games a year I wouldn't care if BB had a bad close game record as much. We barely win 20 games a year so those close games mean more. Also BB has a much worse close game record over the last 5 years than Roy does. This year Roy has done a bad job tho no doubt about it but he has earned a few bad years with what he has done BB on the other hand has not.

Roy=Dabo and Brownell=Muschamp

Roy recruits great players, has won 3 Natties, went to 9 Final Fours all as a "cheerleader".
Brownell recruits mediocre/diamond in the rough players, coaches 'em up, finishes around 9th or 10th in the conference.
(sorta kidding...)

is talented but has an immature basketball IQ running point.
Defensive play and Anthony’s development is a reflection on Roy Williams’ coaching ability. Roy has ALWAYS been a better recruiter than coach.

Roy is a phenomenal recruiter and has a system that lends itself very well to that. Basically, by putting 5 guys on the court that are collectively better than his opponent's 5 best and get them out running breaks every chance they get, they're going to win a ton of games.
I have never seen a coach with his level of success that is so bad at managing close games. How many times does he lose a close game with 2 timeouts left in his pocket? His clock management skills make Les Miles look smart. If someone like Jay Wright had been coaching Roy's players at Kansas and UNC, he'd probably have 5+ championships, and that may be conservative.
