Observed central Lexington County, SC.

Never seen this lizard in SC. Not a chameleon from what I can tell.

It was smaller than a chameleon with a shorter tail.

Also very fast. Much quicker than a chameleon. 42 years and I've never seen a lizard like this in SC.

But we're gaining in coyotes and armadillos. Like Texas animals are expanding to SC. Bet this lizard is from Texas.

For the record, chameleons live in Africa.
Anoles live in South Carolina.
Anolis carolinensis, to be exact.
