Clemson's 1948 team went 11-0, finished #11 in AP poll, beat

Dec 2, 2015, 10:08 AM

Miss. St., S. Carolina, Auburn, The Citadel, & Missouri in Gator Bowl. Maybe if yardbirds & Mizzery had been SEC members then, we would have won our 1st national championship that year and we would be working on our 3rd currently.
We didn't play Ga. Tech that year but if we had that would have given us games vs. 6 SEC teams, right?
Ga. Tech was a member of the SEC from 1932 to 1964. I can't find the exact dates for The Citadel's SEC reign but I'm sure it's out there isn't it?

The 48 season....

Michigan and Clemson were the nations only unbeaten and untied teams. Michigan was the first place choice in the AP Poll even though they didn’t play in a postseason bowl game. Notre Dame, which finished 2nd in the AP Poll and tied USC 14-14 at the end of the regular season, did not play in a bowl game either. I believe UNC finished 3rd in the final poll that year with a record of 9-1-1 overall and 4-0-1 in conference.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

We're the 1948 national champions! Who can argue it? We were one of two undefeated untied teams and played a bowl unlike the other unbeaten. We should declare ourselves 1948 National Champions as we accept the national champ trophy on 1/11/16. Declare it is our third title!!

here ya go!!! and we were the southern conference champs!!
