mainly just to eliminate this month long wait from the ACCCG to the semi-finals. This having to wait this long to see the Tigers play again is hard.

...essentially act as that 8 team "quarter final" game now. Look who was in the running for the CFB playoffs that weekend...they were basically all in the top 10...and they all had an opportunity to step up and win themselves a place in the semis.

It's not absolutely perfect, but it's pretty close.
