#1 gets choice and takes game closer to their school. So Clemson is almost certainly going to Miami if we win out.

I would never pick Jerry World over the Orange Bowl. Between the playing surfaces and the weather, I’d pick Miami every time.

To answer your question, before any decisions are made, #1 and #4 are set for Cotton Bowl. #3 and #4 are slated for the Orange Bowl.

I just looked at the college football playoff website and all I could find was that the #1 vs #4 and the #2 vs #3 rotate between the “New Years six” bowls. If it is a true rotation, seems the Orange bowl would be the #2 vs #3 this time, because last time it was in the rotation, we were the #1 seed. We’ve heard several different views on Tnet. Surely someone can provide a link to settle the confusion on the bored? I personally don’t believe teams get to choose!! Prove me wrong!! TIA.

from a 2015 article: "When assigning teams to sites,

Nov 1, 2018, 10:10 AM

the committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed.

...Sigmon said the committee probably wouldn't ask the Buckeyes what they preferred. The committee didn't do that last year. It determined the top four seeds and assigned the games. And the site selection was incredibly easy."

as stated in the thread, the number one team selects where they want to go. 'Bama would likely choose Arlington.

"The seeding determines the semifinal bowl game assigned to each matchup; the No. 1 seed is assigned to the site closest to its campus to prevent it from playing in a "road" environment. There are no limits on the number of teams per conference, a change from previous BCS rules."
