Sugar since closer & cheaper to attend 4 Tiger Fans.

#1 picks the destination, so if we're #1 we pick the closer venue, Sugar Bowl.

The four-team format pits the No. 1-ranked team against No. 4 and No. 2 vs. No. 3. The selection committee seeds the two semifinal games, placing the top-seeded team at the closest site to prevent it from playing in a "road" environment.

Thanks. I guess I should have said #1 team is awarded the most favorable destination.

But if we are #1 playing an SEC

Nov 28, 2017, 8:25 PM

The Sugar Bowl is an SEC Bowl where they would be closer and have more experience in the venue. Would the committee send us to the Rose under those circumstances since it would be more of a neutral site?

Heck - we should choose the Rose if we play ALA or UGA

Nov 28, 2017, 8:17 PM

We'll travel for that - sugar would be Home Field for them no matter how close we are.

If we win and #4 is Wisconsin, we will definitely go to the Sugar Bowl. But I think we would go to the Rose if #4 is Alabama (same for Auburn, but they won't be #4 if they win). The committee rules say that they seed the #1 team to the location that avoids them having to play a road game. The average Alabama fan is 3 to 3 1/2 hours from New Orleans. The average Clemson fan is 9 to 10 hours away. That would be a road game.
