I'm not so sure I understand this situation.
If the guy's wife left him and divorced him was Urban putting her in danger?
It seems like there is a consensus that Urban is getting fired because he knew about something in one of his coaches personal lives?
Maybe he should have gotten the guy some help? Sounds like a bit if a psycho. I guess Urban should have fired him immediately. I don't know if I would try and interfere in people's personal problems either. As long as the woman wasn't in danger.

The coach was a coach at a public university.
Public universities have an added degree of responsibility.

Perhaps all head coaches should also become priest so that they can take confessions, provide guidance while being exempt from being policemen.

room full of journalists about having knowledge of the situation AFTER having a ringside seat to the wrestling doctor scandal and watching a former coach (and current Ohio Congressman) lie to try and cover-up having knowledge of the scandal ---and thus jeopordize any chance he may have had to win an election in the future.
And Urb could have put tOSU in violation of those dreaded Title IX guidelines.

The problem is that the first time Urban found out about the coach's abusive behavior towards his wife was in 2009. In 2009 him and "his boss" figured it would be best for the assistant coach to get counseling. Years after Urban elected to Hire Smith again as a receivers coach knowing about his past. There is proof through messages that Urban's wife knew about the incident in 2015 and talked about it with the victim stating that "Urban doesn't know what to think."
But to throw a wrench in everything the victim stated she was never told by anyone that Urban was ever addressed about this issue.
The second part could be Urban's free pass out, I hate to see this happen especially to a perennial powerhouse but what's right is right. Knowing and turning a blind eye could have cost the victim her life in the future had she not taken action to leave and file a restraining order or if that had been denied as some areas are known to do if it means protecting their university.

Wow, I didn't know it went that far back. Thanks for a legitimate answer and not just giving me a thumbs dowm like some other snowflakes on this site.
I legitimately didn't have much information, and wondering if there is a social media knee jerk reaction going on.
Just so people understand I would never condone violence on a woman. I don't think there's any way Urban survives this.

No problem, I tend to use this site to get opinions or share what I know about sports related issues, recruiting etc and am glad to share with all my fellow tigers more than for meaningless statements also I know what you meant. I just did a lot of digging when I found this out this morning and found a lot of red flags.
