Alabama's Marlon Humphrey disrespects Clemson's 'white guy' receiver
Hunter Renfrow wasn't exactly a household name heading into Monday night's national championship game, but people surely will remember him after it. The 5-11, 180-pound former walk-on receiver finished with a career high in receptions (10), his second-best career yardage performance (92) and tied his high for touchdowns (two).
He also caught the winning score, played every offensive snap and made a crucial tackle that saved a touchdown. Bama should have seen this coming as he starred in last year's national championship game, finishing with seven receptions for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite his previous success against the Tide, he still didn't entirely earn the respect of their defense.
"Every time he makes a play, I just go like, 'white guy.' I guess he's got some serious talent," Alabama defensive back Marlon Humphrey said, via CBS Sports. "I'm not sure [how he got open so much]."
Sports fans are used to hearing undersized, white receivers labeled as having deceptive speed, as hardworking with tons of grit and so on and so on. The tired narrative just fuels the stereotype, and it's disrespectful to the athlete.
The phrase "white guy" isn't disrespectful, no matter how much Bo Bice cries about it, but assuming that someone isn't a good player just because of how he looks is. He's on this team for a reason, and he appears to be Alabama's Kryptonite as two of his best games have come against the Tide.

That is a racist comment or prejudice or whatever you wanna call it, it's also wrong.
Would it be racist if I said white people in average are smarter than blacks?
I could probably prove that point judged on performance but that also is wrong!
One day maybe MLK's dream will come true and individuals will be judged by their on merit.
I also don't buy into the narrative of blacks being better athletes. There are great athletes great football players of every race.

What would you expect them to say, that the Tigers were better than they were? That will never happen.
As bad as it sounds, at least they didn't do what the Cluckers did and accuse us of using that word. What is the old saying, "If all else fails, use the race card." I simply have to shake my head at that crew down in Columbia. They are deplorable - and lugubrious.

It's polite to identify someone by race or it isn't? Imo, if race is used as an indicator of superiority or inferiority then using the term is derogatory. If it's just used to single someone out in a crowd, differentiate them from others in that same crowd or lends to narrowing the focus on them for a reason other than race, it's perfectly fine to call them black, white or anything else.
It's no more discriminatory than pointing out that they are a woman, teenager, child or man. I shall not point toward your example as being an violation of the PC code due to the absolute fact that one man can not know the thoughts or motives of another by a single phrase though some believe they have a special radar that is always accurate in locating racism.
Imo, the actor who is accused of being a racist owes no explanation. Which is a strange position being that I firmly believe that in America if one is a racist he maintains his right to be a racist. In other words, it's not a fight in which I desire to participate.
So, who cares?
