Update on BrotherBlood99

As many of you know, baby brother has been in rehab for an opiate addiction for the past 12 days. Mom and Dad say he's finally sounding like himself again and is coming to the terms with the effects that his addiction had on his life, family and finances. He's at a rehab facility that, apparently, is one of the best and most renowned in the country. So that's good.

He has a lot on the line. A career in public service. An active member of the Marine Corps reserve. An overall kind soul and good kid who got mixed up with the wrong stuff. It sounds cliche to say, but addiction really doesn't discriminate. All it takes is the wrong time and the right opportunity for someone to suffer its wrath.

He called me the other night, but being that I have a habit of not answering numbers that I'm unfamiliar with, I screened it. It wasn't until later that I put the 2 and 2 together and realized that it was my baby brother calling me to update me on his status. Talk about feeling like an azzhole.

I hope I'll get to catch up with him soon. This is going to be a forever battle, but at this stage, things are looking as good as one would hope.
