Orange Bowl 2011

Jul 26, 2015, 7:17 PM

Was mine . Not solely because we got embarrased badly and have to endure to this day the snide remarks from just about anyone , but because of my drive down .
Flat tire south of Daytona , and the repair took longer because my spare was hung up in its cradle . Then I left my cell phone sitting on the edge of my truck bed and drove off . I saw it fall, turned around and got it . Broken screen .
Got to the hotel in Coconut Grove and found that the hotel had only reserved a queen when i had ordered two twins . My old HS buddy and I had to share ....not cool .
Then the game . Then , on the ride home all pizzy and mad , i got a speeding ticket up around Kings Bay Ga .
Yep , that is one I wish I had stayed home and watched in the house .

USuck in 1987! I got sick of their fans yelling, "Rodney" the whole game! The weather in the upper deck was cold and my date was a pain. Coach Ford lost one we should have won. It was nice to return on several opportunities and see Clemson defeat the chickens. We need to end their home win streak this year!

Jul 26, 2015, 7:34 PM

I sat with my parents in the middle of a section filled with UGA students. There was one extremely drunk student who sat behind us, who had stolen a tub of mustard from one of the concession stands. Every so often he would stand up, pull the spoon out of the tub, yell "GO DAWGS" or some such nonsense, and wave the spoon around in the air, slinging mustard all over everybody. My dad had words with him, but it kept up until my dad had had enough. He along with another nearby fan jumped up and went after the punk. About the time they got their hands on him, two very large state troopers showed up and snatched the kid up and drug his slobbering a$$ away. I'd never seen my dad actually get into a fight, and it scared the ##### out of me. Needless to say, we never went back to UGA.

When we got there and made it to our seats we endured one ignorant toothless redneck after another... It was disgusting. We were verbally attacked from the get go and finally I yelled out, "I'm glad I won't have to put up with this in the second half!"

Sure enough Charlie Whitehurst and Chad Jasmin shut all of the low life's up around me and while they showed back up for the second half, they quickly left not long after!

2) Gator - Cuse - Took nephew (GA fan). He got drunk, loud & kept making fun of Clemson.
3) Peach - Baylor - Always rained @ Peach but this one was a freezing rain & strong wind. Coldest ever.
4) FSU - Patrick Sapp QB - Fans OK. Our DBs chased their TE about 70 yards on a dump pass. Nuff said.
5) Gator - Pitt - They scored on the first play. Fuller did a long tuck/run down to the 2. In 3 plays, we didn't move an inch. When we ran the sweep, they had about 5 guys out there waiting for the RB. Long night.

USC 2005. We won, cementing Whitehurst as CootKiller. I went dressed as Tigger and he went dressed as big bird spray painted red with a noose around his neck (which probably didnt help our case) the same way we went to the 2004 Game in DV the Brawl.

It was my junior year, my entire family was at the game with my and my friends, as we grew up clemson fans, my dad is a 76 grad. The real trouble started after the game. We were tailgating in some forgotten industrial wasteland by some loading docks. We witnessed the cawks tailgating near us accost a black clemson fan in his car as he was driving away. They tore his clemson flags off his moving car, all the while screaming "get out of hear N*****". Guy had the last word as he executed a beautiful sky hook with an empty glass handle of Jack Daniels and it found its mark on the offending cawk's windshield.

My little brother was playing catch with my roommate, and caught the ball near this #### tailgate. A drunk tubbo stared at my brother for a second, then proceeded to hit him across the face with a clemson flag he had broken off the black guy's car. My brother is one of those guys who doesn't back down even when he should. He took a two-step drop, then threw the football as hard as he could and pinged it off the guy's nose. At this point, both of our tailgates met in the middle, including my older sister and my mother, and my dad in his knee brace fresh off an ACL repair. These people were threatening to beat up my parents, my sister, and it wasnt just the men, there were women from their side, drunk, cigarrettes hanging out of their mouths, bad perms and tanning bed tans (they checked off all the pre-reqs for being a #### fan).

They obviously didn't consider the circumstances well, because they were a bunch of 40-50 somethings, drunk off their butts. Outside my parents, our group consisted of all college kids, with majority of them being members of Clemson's Rugby team. Fortunately cooler heads prevailed, because those guys would have been destroyed by our Rugby Team, of which both my roommates were members. I'm a small guy, I have big friends.

Regardless, I would never take my wife or kids to columbia now for a game, I would be legitimately scared for our safety. bunch of dumb

Re: Your WORST away game experience EVER !

Jul 27, 2015, 6:14 PM [ in reply to Re: Your WORST away game experience EVER ! ]

I've mostly had so-so to pleasant away game experiences, but the so-so ones were more to do with the way we played than the opposing fans. I've also chosen some terrible performances and/or crushing defeats by our Tigers (03 Wake, 04 Duke, 06 BC, 09 Bama, 09 Maryland), but I guess I've been very lucky to avoid horrible behavior (more than the usual trash talk) from opposing teams' fans with ONE exception. UGA 2002. That was awful.

This was a UGA team that I believe was ranked pre-season top 10, and we were breaking in a new QB in Willie Simmons. I didn't have much in the way of expectations, but hoped for a win (and if it wasn't for special teams, we would have). Simmons was just ok, but we gave up a kickoff return for a TD, missed two FGs, shanked a punt 17 yards, and gave up a big punt return. UGA squeaked out a win with their backup QB, and the drunk Dawg fans thought they were on the way to a National Championship.

At least 7-8 random UGA fans loudly proclaimed "they stuck that d--- in the Tigers' a--". No idea why they kept saying that, but maybe that's some sort of UGA tradition. They just kept peppering us with that insult as we walked out of the stadium, and they had lines of 110 lb drunk freshman who thought they were invincible spewing more garbage.

Once we got through that, we thought it was done. I mean, we did walk by their frat houses, and that could be expected. It wasn't over, then all of the fat redneck UGA fans started with the taunting, and even one clueless fan who said they won by 30.

Finally, we got to the parking lot, and were waiting for the rest of the group (that sat in a different section and prior to texting) to get to the car when this new idiot walked up. He was also clearly blasted out of his mind drunk, and stumbled up to us in his red pants, white dress shirt, and a barely staying on his head UGA visor. His unfortunate date (or maybe girlfriend) seemed to stay back about 15 feet for some reason.

The first words out of this cretin's mouth were "UGA sucks." My friend and I look at him, shrug with indifference, ignore him, and figure he would stumble off somewhere else. No such luck. This time he yells "UGA SUCKS" fairly loud. We lightly laugh at him and tell him "whatever you say, bud".

This angers him, he starts stomping up to us, reminding us "that the dawgs stuck their d--- in our Tigers' ###" and throwing a toddler-like fit. We tell him to relax and walk it off, and by this point, his unfortunate date comes to him, drags him away, and apologizes to us. While she's taking him on down the road, the wonderful rep of UGA football is slamming his visor on the wall in a way that would make Steve Spurrier proud.

I have never stepped foot in Athens since, and I grew up outside of Atlanta.

One of Clemson's best teams in history blew a game against Duke. Enough said? Well to say more, the Tigers intercepted downfield passes TWICE and then fumbled them back to Duke, essentially making them completions. It rained all day, and again, a really good Clemson team lost TO DUKE.

Where is JHop83?

I recall he and I being the only Clemson fans for a while among a large group of Coots at the fairgrounds in Columbia back in '07. I remember this because he provided the weed.

One of the Gamecocks in our party proceeded to take a #### in the Cadillac Escalade door of a neighoring group of Clemson fans. And, even though I love the Tigers (donning ALL orange, of course), a brawl ensued and I'm pretty sure I was beaten over the head by Gamecocks and Tigers alike amid all the confusion.

I'm not proud of it, but I may be one of the few here who was "the enemy" at some point despite wanting to JD and CJ Spiller run roughshod (which, they did) in the WB.

GT in 14, 11, and 09

We cannot seem to win there, their stadium is a piece of crap and that stupid steam whistle blowing after every first down is so obnoxious. Not to mention that I nearly froze to death this past season. It was frigid at kickoff probably right at 32 degrees and didn't warm up much even in the sun.

Everyone loves me and I am the most interesting man alive.

:)

Seriously, SCar 2000. Game was at 1:00pm, left Greenville at 9:00am, missed entire first quarter because of traffic within two miles of stadium. We won, the SCar fans were typical chickenbuttholes, took 6 hours to get back to Greenville.

Opener in Chapel Hill in 96. Lost 45-0 and had miserable trip that included breaking down on interstate. Haven't been back.....

Wake 2003 - House of Horrors

Jul 27, 2015, 5:13 PM

Game was over at half time with Wake scoring 28 in 2nd quarter. Just plain ugly, nothing particularly that the passive Wake fans did. In a way, it made it even more annoying they were killing us and so ho hum about it. It was also the first away game for my 7 year boy too. We had just move back the Carolina's from years Colorado. I had to try and convince him we are not always that bad.... Tough sell.

Bright spot he starts his sophomore year at Clemson next month! At least he wasn't permanently scarred.

Bad games

Jul 27, 2015, 7:19 PM

We had a lot of bad memories from games over the years, as we have not always had teams like we do now. We have won games we were suppose to lose and sometimes we really stunk up the place, even when we were suppose to win. We were good in the 80s for the most part, but other than now we were average. We are hitting on all cylinders now and just have to learn to win the big games and the national championships should come our way. The talent we have is unbelievable thanks to our coaches and right now the sky is the limit, so let's go for the spoil and take names as we enjoy the next few years. Thanks Dabo!

2003 game against Wake Forest in Winston Salem, NC

My dad and I went on a road trip that week to Washington D.C. and Baltimore, and we decided to go to make a stop and go to this game on the way back home. However, we ended up getting our butts kicked that day, and it got me depressed. So, we ended up leaving during the second quarter.
