Have Americans finally grown weary of McDonalds?

Jun 9, 2014, 4:46 PM

http://blogs.marketwatch.com/thetell/2014/06/09/america-is-holding-back-mcdonalds-and-ronald-isnt-helping/

I'm not going to say I never go there, but it is mostly in a pinch. The good is what it is, and the service gets worse by the day.

McD's is the last fast food option I'd choose.***

McDonalds has lost sight of their product and concentrated

Jun 9, 2014, 4:49 PM

too much on their service/speed/scale. Never lose sight of your product...ever. Their burgers suck. Fries are still good though.

if not for happy meals (mcNuggets) they would have BEEN gone

Playgrounds, and happy meals keep them in business IMO.

Jun 9, 2014, 4:58 PM

McDonald's to focus so heavily on marketing to the Afican-American community in the last several years. No other fast food chain has so narrowly targeted that market segment. What do they know that the rest don't...or did they miscalculate?

What product does McD that is the best in its category?

Jun 9, 2014, 4:51 PM

the fries are probably the only "best of" product they sell and I'm not sure how many will travel to McD just to buy fries.

I'd guess that the majority of McD's business is breakfast which was why them cutting it off before 11am was always stupid. I hear they are changing that time which is a long time coming

I don't think there is a Hardee's in Charlotte

Jun 9, 2014, 4:57 PM [ in reply to and who would go there for breakfast if there's a Hardee's?*** ]

at least I've never seen one. (There used to be one around UNCC, but I believe it's gone now)

I've always thought whomever is the first to open a franchise here would make bank.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Now that I think about it, I can't remember seeing one

Jun 9, 2014, 5:03 PM

around Charlotte. Every little town surrounding Charlotte, yes, but nothing IN the city.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep, always thought it was strange

Jun 9, 2014, 5:06 PM

We have pretty much every other fast food chain except Hardee's. I know they exist elsewhere in the state (chapel hill has many) but they seemingly aren't allowed in Charlotte.

McDonalds is the WORST breakfast bro

Jun 10, 2014, 9:24 AM

and their biscuits are more expensive than the competition. BoJ's, Hardee's, or a gas station bagged sausage biscuit all beat out McD's.

Re: Have Americans finally grown weary of McDonalds?

Jun 9, 2014, 6:15 PM

I go there more than I should and I always wonder why when I leave. Without a doubt, most of your franchises hire the absolute lowest common denominator of worker.

It's one thing to have a moron back there working the fryer or cleaning the stainless steel pans or doing other repetitive work, but there are so many mentally deficient, anti-social spaz's working the registers and putting together the orders that it's pretty much an enigma at how the places make any money or generate any business.

$15 an hour? I'd pay for the commensurate price increase that would bring at Chick-Fil-A or even Taco Bell, who hires from the same pool but somehow knows how to train their workers. But everytime I leave McD's, I feel like they should have paid me to come there. That's the price of laziness, I guess.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hell, give them $10-11 an hour, but install plenty of those

Jun 10, 2014, 8:50 AM
