David Hood: Question about ACC money/Clemson particularly

Jan 31, 2020, 9:19 AM

After reading article on ESPN and seeing all the SEC posts on social media. I was wondering if David Hood could do a article on how much ACC is distributing and more importantly how much Clemson will receive after season and bowl games. Especially since with ACC Network launched this year. Just curious... Go Tigers!

I will definitely work on that. I have to talk to Graham Neff anyway about insurance policies. Good idea

So, I understand that Clemson gets its share, equally, of the total revenue created...But I still can't rap my mind around how Clemson does not get two shares when they play two games in the playoff.... We all know that the majority of the money generated comes from the Clemson games...yet we only get one share? And I know that we get expenses, which helps us, but that is still a break even payout.

If Florida State won the natty, then I would expect them to get a higher share than the rest of us.

additional lesser shares are paid out from the playoff. The ACC could not have a team in at all and get the same amount as having one. The playoff teams get a $6 mill payout that goes to the league for splitting and expenses also. That pails in comparison that UVA brought in from the OB -27mil and $40 mil the Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl reps get for example. So in essence, if you are talking payouts and not exposure, UVA, UGA, and Wisconsin were worth more to their leagues this year than Clemson, LSU and OSU

and keep in mind those conference shares from the playoff

have been in the $70 mil range I believe.
