SEC commish tells UCF to improve non-conference schedule

Dec 6, 2018, 9:09 PM

Has he looked at his own teams schedules? Or scheduled any games against UCF? Or remember that UCF beat SECw champ in bowl last year?

The Irony

Because the SEC plays such a tough OOC schedule year in and year out as a whole conference. Tell the SEC to schedule UCF, they won't, not after last year's Peach Bowl.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

also it was the sec who cried

Dec 6, 2018, 9:15 PM

and whined to keep them from adding conference champ mandatory to get into the playoff..sec commish is just flapping his gums..he knows there is a bias in favor of his conference .

Also, if I remember right, UCF mentioned a few

bigger schools they tried to get a home and home with, and they were turned down

Are people really buying the UCF crap over how everyone is afraid to play them? He says in one breath that it takes years to schedule OOC games, and then he says teams are scared to play them. What reason would anyone have had to be scared of them prior to last year? Even then sure, Bama will play FSU, LSU will play Miami, Clemson will play teams like A&M, etc... but they’re all terrified of UCF...

Not a fan of SEC or their commish, but he’s right....

Dec 6, 2018, 10:56 PM

UCF has to schedule better.
And to do so, they might have to give up thinking they’ll get “home and home” with certain teams.

At this point, their whining is as tiresome as the sec bias stuff from ESPN....kind of hoping LSU wins so they can get a reality check...because even a UCF win over LSU won’t slow down the esecpn hype.

UCF is the New Boise ST

Everyone said they could not beat this or that team. Then after they beat each of those teams nobody wanted to schedule them. I don’t think teams are scared just risk vs reward is not good. If you beat them you were supposed to, but if you lose then everyone questions if you are overrated.

Yeah probably not the best look from the SEC Commissioner.

Dude, what??? UCF played FIVE ranked teams in 2017 INCLUDING Auburn, who beat #1 Georgia and #1 Alabama.

UCF had a top 15 schedule in 2017, which was HARDER than ANY team in the SEC, in particular Alabama who had a SOS ranking in the 80's!

Maybe Skankey is so concerned about UCFs schedule, then maybe he should require each SEC team to play a home and home against UCF over the next 15 years and see how that works out.

Then promptly sends out memo to all SEC AD's not to schedule UCF***

While he is right...

Dec 7, 2018, 10:19 AM

UCF absolutely does need to improve its schedule, but it is unlikely they'll find too many, if any, teams in the $EC who are willing to play them.

Re: SEC commish tells UCF to improve non-conference schedule

Dec 7, 2018, 7:42 PM

And today the Florida AD comes out and says they’d do a 2 for 1 series with UCF, and what does the UCF AD do? He says UCF will only accept a home and home because “top 10 programs” don’t do 2 for 1 deals. All this talk of teams being scared to play them is complete bull.

If they want to improve their OOC schedule so bad then take deals like this. Then perhaps they win hear games and get taken more seriously and then maybe in the future those 2 for 1 deals become home and home deals.

What he means is they are not playng an "SEC" schedule, as if any SEC team would have the stones to play them home and home or otherwise. What a freakin joke.

Question is do anybody think UCF would’ve won 25 straight games playing an “SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12 Schedule?” I don’t think so, maybe I’m wrong but I doubt it! I understand them wanting to be recognized by the Playoff committee though.
