Last night, after service, I was in the coat room getting my jacket, when I overheard them discussing a "situation". The whole jist of the conversation was how the administration and staff should handle it.
From what I could understand while eavesdropping from behind all of the garments, a few football players have created quite a lucrative enterprise as "paid performers" for bachelorette parties, birthdays etc.
Just curious if anyjuan else has heard this or if it just a rumor?

That's the word going around. I am not trying to judge them. I realize they need the money, but that's a serious NCAA violation. I know Deebo Samuel was one of them and that was a huge factor as to why he left early.

but those jobs must be closely monitored by the Athletics Department to ensure that all rules regarding employment are followed (the student-athlete must perform useful work, the rate of pay must be the regular rate paid for such duties, hours paid must equal actual hours worked, payment in advance of hours worked is not permitted, etc).
That said, most sports have become a year around endeavor so between school, training, practice, travel and games, it would be hard to imagine how anyone, especially a football player, would have time for a job.

is reasonable. I would bet working as an escort/performer would lend itself to boosters being able to pay inflated amounts to the players with very little way of tracking it down. In other words, it would be hard to know if the $1000 was legitimate tips from a 30 person bachelorette party, or just one dude who happens to be a booster.

A very good friend of the family has a son who is a student at u of 5c and, according to him, this is apparently common knowledge around campus.

joking. So I made a few calls to some wealthy coots I know (well...wealthy by coot standards lol!) who tailgate in that broken train thingy by the stadium. I thought, I'll call them and we'll all get a good laugh out of it. Turns out this is not a laughing matter, and they were pretty upset about it. Apparently there is truth to what you've heard, and a good chance this is going to blow up and make a lot of headlines.

It could be very true. Coastal Carolina cheerleaders were caught doing the same thing a few years ago and made national headlines. Imo, it may be embarrassing for the school if the info comes out but I don’t think it will be a huge punishment by the ncaa. To my knowledge UNC still hasn’t received any punishment for the academic fraud and that’s a huge violation

UNC - The school gave themselves a post season ban for a couple sports that didn't matter to them and claimed that should be their punishment. Then ultimately the NCAA determined the academic fraud was beyond their scope because the fake classes were open to any student in the school, not just athletes.
USuCk - If this is ultimately found to be true, it's a way for coot boosters to funnel money to athletes. Maybe there won't be an institutional punishment, maybe the players will just be determined ineligible, or maybe the NCAA drops the hammer. I don't know, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to what the NCAA does.
Of course, this is all dependent on whether these rumors are true, or false. BigCUFan® is typically right about these things though.
