I have no problem on principle with not conceding

Nov 10, 2020, 7:40 AM

or with legal challenges. I may disagree with the President on his prospects of success here, but if he feels he has a legal route, he should pursue that, and obviously shouldn't concede in that case.

That is not the problem. You can execute these legal challenges, and wait to concede, without burning everything down. Compare this to the 2000 election. (Gore did conceded in the immediate aftermath, of course, but took it back.) For weeks, Vice President Gore pursued legal challenges and did not concede. But find me a quote where he said he actually won, and it was stolen from him, and that it was rigged. I don't think you'll find one.

I believe the President has a responsibility to champion our democratic institutions. Yes, to correct things where needed, but also to make sure the American people still keep their overall faith. Where is the "ensuring of domestic tranquility"? This is a critical function of our government, and boy, do we need it right now.

Eventually, I believe it's inevitable that the legal challenges will run their course, and the President will have to concede. But I hope there is not lasting damage to the (mainly conservative) electorate's trust in our grand system of government.

He will never concede. I’m not sure what you’re basing

that prediction on.

He will grudgingly do it.

He will maintain that it was stolen from him, but he will grudgingly do the official stuff, like authorize the start of the transition, etc. He has not done those things yet. He will have to.

Prepare for a constitutional crisis, and national unrest. They’re going to need tranquilizer darts to get him out of the White House.

sort of where I am...

He has the right to challenge, but the way he is doing it is causing fear and angst.

You'll always have outliers, but it's important that

90% of the American people trust the integrity of their vote and its count. I think he's pretty much closed that road, unless he were to get on TV and completely reverse, and say he's confident in the result and that it was fair. Even when he does concede, I don't think he'll say that.

He's too caught up in his narcissism...

Nov 10, 2020, 7:56 AM

To realize that he's actually discouraging his supporters from believing in our democratic system, which only hurts them in the long run.
