The facade that is SEC football

Jun 27, 2019, 9:42 PM

In light of Finebomb's incredulous remarks about the ACC, I decided to lay out some FACTS about the 2018 football season:

- SEC teams participated in 13 bowl games, with a 7-6 final record

- ACC teams participated in 10 bowl games, with a 5-5 final record

- The ACC was 2-0 vs the SEC in head to head bowl match-ups in 2018

- An ACC team won the college football playoff in convincing fashion

Any follower of college football understands the measuring stick the talking heads use is performance in the post-season. So my question is this: what would Finebomb make of these results? What would any fan conclude from the results? Take away the conference labels and the ACC is clearly equivalent or better than the SEC. I understand you can nit-pick games, like UGA blowing out a coachless Georgia Tech, or Florida beating a soulless FSU team. That does not change the fact the ACC was superior to the SEC in the post season. If you dispute this, you are an SEC homer or have an agenda. What should we conclude about "the ears"? Nothing more than a stooge on the SEC payroll.

We have to stop this. The SEC is substantially better than the ACC. 7-5 Pitt won the Coastal division. That’s embarrassing. Did they even have someone drafted? Probably not.

Sorry to point this out. You say ACC vs Sec head to head was Acc 2-0. What about Ta&m and NCSU.? Hope no one starts using your facts without a fake news check.

The SECheat was 6-6 in bowl/Championship games not 7-6.

Unless I'm mistaken, there were three post season ACC/SEC matchups. Clemson crushed Bama, VA embarrassed SC, and A&M put a beat down on NCSt. That's 2-1 for the ACC. If you include the regular season, the SEC was 5-2 vs. the ACC. SEC teams who beat ACC teams included Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, LSU, and Alabama. That works out to be 7-3 for the SEC vs the ACC. That hardly seems to make the ACC better.
