Tajh's turnover at the goalline

I know its nit-picky (we're 9-1) but I'm starting to see a trend.
Defenses try to hold our players up (QB,RB,WR) until other defenders can get there to strip out the ball. Remember AE in the Orange bowl?
Is it better just to go down, rather than fighting for an extra half yard. Our offense is pretty stout, but turnovers are starting to become a chink in the armor.

watch that play in slow mo. Boyd was twisting to his left and holding the ball high on his chest, trying to spin in, and the Terp player hit him across the ball, from the left. It was not a strip as much as it was a dislodge.

the guy put his helmet right on the ball. Result knocked it out of his hands. That one doesn't bother me because he had both hands on it and it was just a freak thing that happens sometimes.

This exactly. That particular fumble was not a ball security fail. It was a freak play in that Boyd was bouncing off one tackle, spun, and another tackler just happened to get lucky enough for his helmet to slide up into Boyd's armpit and pop the ball out.
Boyd had the ball tucked tight with both hands on it. It took a very lucky shot (and unintentional, i.e., not a reach-in strip) to knock the ball loose.

Tajh should have kept the ball lower & tucked. If he gets across, great! If not, we'll live to score on the next down (from just inches away...) It was a bad play by Boyd. You have to appreciate the effort, but he's got to use his head a little better.
But if that is the worst thing we have to complain about this week, that means we're doing pretty darn good! Go Tigers!

sometimes football teams make plays. Sometimes, sometimes that isn't Clemson. It is sorta funny, every once in a while there are two teams on a football field. The only chink in any armor is the sanity of this freaking board sometimes.
