Top ten list that ended up being 11. Feel free to add on.
1)As some have said, it is a silo with somewhat of an oculus in top.
2) It is ugly and seems out of place
3) Making something ugly and out of place bigger makes it worse, not better.
4) CU is full of mostly traditional architecture.
5) The stadium is traditional.
6) This is modeled after an old idea, but it is an attempt at being modern.
7) See number 2, it is out of place.
8) Oculi were popular during the Byzantine empire
9) Byzantine has a modern meaning of complex, complicated and generally screwed up from an administrative standpoint.
10) The Byzantine reference is spot on. This monstrosity is an ego trip by a group of weak-minded men that will be a laughing stock of the college football world.
11) In 20 years this piece of junk will look like a 80s hair band. Nobody will even understand why someone thought that it was cool.

There is also a lot of modern architecture, have you seen all the new buildings being built? Lee III? http://www.clemson.edu/caah/architecture/facilities-and-resources/index.html That is pretty modern looking. I've always enjoyed looking at the different buildings from different time periods on campus, and I agree that the classical architecture looks good. The oculus was also popular during the renaissance, and I think its going to look great! The oculus and the light in the sky during night games while the team runs down the hill will look awesome. Fireworks and the oculus will look great on tv. I'm proud of Clemson for not going with simplicity, and I can't wait to see it.
