Yesterday was the 30th anniversity of the "balloon game"

Can't believe nobody mentioned it or maybe they did. We beat Maryland 52-27 November 12, 1983. I was there, but always felt guilty that I didn't go help the students and other people who volunteered to inflate all those balloons the night and morning before. Must have been expensive for all those balloons and helium; really would be today especially with the DHEC fine or whatever.
There's not a really good video capture of the moment except for TigerRay game video and one from a helicopter. Should have took my iPhone to the game.

no longer attending said such contests in Clemson's Death Valley as she now is married to a wonderful man who makes her sit in the stands and after each first down say
" Move the chains, move the chains, wuff, wuff, wuff "
For his sake I sure hope they beat somebody this year because boy is she getting pi$$ed off. I told her just the other day, look at the bright side, you dont make many first downs, you wont have to worry about interrupting your holiday schedule with a bowl game and considering the wonderful job your new coach is doing, 3 wins out of conference might just be the highlight for awhile

NO WOO HOO! I was in the North Stands around the 35. The one thing I remember, other than the balloons, was on one play, Boomer had a man wide open on my side of the field. No Clemson defenders or any other Maryland players. Fortune for us, Boomer never saw him. Can see it like it was yesterday.

It was quite a sight from the third row of the North Upper Deck as all those balloons came up to us and obscured everything from the field to the sky for a few moments. BTW did you have an iPhone 30 years ago? All I had was a bag phone with a 5-pound receiver.
