People score on the wrong goal all the time... people return fumbles the wrong way, etc...

But I've never seen anything like this under these circumstances.

basket there is no way the other team could beat them in regulation, or more likely it was probably just instinct. I seriously doubt that his thought was that he wanted to beat them by 3 instead of 1.
