Could Catanzaro be the best Tiger kicker ever?
Jan 2, 2013, 5:18 PM

I think he is getting close with one more year to go....
Missed only one FG this year (missed FG was a long one I think). Last sec FG to win the division last year....Last sec FG to beat LSU in Chick-Fil-a bowl game.

Ariri, and Igwebuike (and even Welch) were good EVERY season.
I'm a big fan of Cantanzaro, but it's a bit harder than that to get the "best ever" tag for kicking at Clemson.

quaterback in Clemson history crowd will say no. They will say whoever played on the '81 team is the best at there position in Clemson history only way you can say Homer Jordan is the best QB in Clemson history. Quess they would say Bo Jackson wasn't the best RB in Auburn history.... lol

Homer Jordan was a good runner b/c of the OL he was running behind. But IMO, Tajh is the best QB to ever wear a Clemson uniform....

For now, I Gotta go with David Treadwell, but

after that last kick New Year's Eve, and Catman's overall consistency this year, I can easily see him becoming our best ever with a really great season next year.
We'ved had some really great kickers in the past ... Obed Ariri, Donald Iguebueke, David Treadwell, Chris Gardocki, Nelson Welch, etc.

after Gardener made his catch against the Coots .Aaron ? . The,old-timer, Paulin, who, also, played baseball was pretty consistent ,if not too far out.

Yes he is...

Just look at his stats compared to everyone else, then realize he has done it without kicking off a tee and with smaller goalpost.

Sure, let's compare stats. Gardocki (who couldn't use tees

either, made 63 field goals in 3 seasons compared to Catmans 54, never missed an extra point, AND had a 44 yard punt average as our starting punter. Oh yeah, he did kickoffs too. As a "kicker", he was clearly all around better.

Gardocki made 70% of his fg attempts, Cantanzaro has made 79% with smaller goalpost. All around yes Gardocki is better, catanzaro has been a better field goal kicker though.

Gardocki. If Catman keeps it up, he could easily move into that list; in fact he may belong there now.

that is a TOUGH crowd to better. and that is not a knock on Catanzaro.
trust me, back in the day, our kickers were on par with our defenses. and that says a LOT.
Treadwell ended up winning a Super Bowl for Denver. he was the definition of clutch.
