Way to go Coty!!!! This guy was a 2 star corner for people hooked on rankings. Stars don't mean anything it is the person.

Yeah he was headed to App State....

when we offered at the last second because someone else (can't remember who) may have decommitted. Or was it a target that went somewhere else? At any rate, I remembered that he had family in the pros and lots of speed just really skinny.

I must say that I never wrote him off because he was a two star. The coaches liked him. Obviously they hit big time on him. I wish we had him now!

I was on the 20 yard line in the second row when he made that interception against Auburn. I lost my voice after that catch.

While I certainly agree that stars are not the end all be all, they GENERALLY related to how quickly a player can become productive at the next level. Cody was not a great college football player. He became, through hard work, a very good CB his senior year. He learned the game during his time at Clemson and was given two tremendous physical tools to play CB: great hips and blinding speed (4.3ish).

No one can be happier than me when a good player becomes great through the efforts of his (or her) heart, head and commitment but don't totally discount the star ratings. There are plenty of guys who develop the high-end skills in college that were 2-3 star guys. Nothing wrong with that. But watch Alexander this year and compare him to Cody's freshmen year. There will not (likely) be much comparison as Alexander is more skilled at an early stage, which is the primary reason (other than freakish physical tools) a kid gets more stars.

Cody is continuing to develop and become even better; i'll be rooting for him to have a long and productive NFL career. I also think he will make a great coach when his playing days are over.
