New Contract = New Era. No change is coming.

Mar 26, 2019, 12:36 PM

Everyone seems to be forgetting:

2014:
Clemson, Brad Brownell agree to new six-year contract
Clemson announced Friday that Brad Brownell has been awarded a new six-year contract. Brownell has taken the Tigers to one NCAA Tournament and one NIT in four years.

2018:
Clemson's Brownell gets 6-year, $15 million contract through 2024.
Fresh off Sweet 16 appearance

There is simply no way that Brownell goes anywhere.
Last year was a vote of confidence on where he's taking the program.
So buckle up you buttercups.

Instead, focus on the fact we're getting a solid player from Indiana as a starting point.

This is a mirror image of Tommy Bowden. We have not learned anything from a one year wonder as far as contact negotiations. Two contact extensions in two years ?

Excuse the math error. Two extensions in four years.

Didn't the extensions lower his buyout?

Buyout, Excitement

Mar 26, 2019, 1:46 PM

As for the buyout, starting on May 1 it drops to 1.7 million without mitigation. It was set at $3 million with mitigation for this coming year. In 2018, it will drop to $850,000 without mitigation and in 2019 it drops to $425,000 without mitigation.

In 2020 it is set at 25-percent of the remaining $425,000.

“We want to make sure we give all the coaches we have the tools they need to be successful,” Radakovich said. “He had three years left on the contract and moving it back to four was a little more palatable as it relates to the recruiting world. That being said, the mitigated vs. the unmitigated we took the opportunity to clean that up.

''We have a tremendous amount of momentum and excitement in our basketball program and that is a testament to Brad's leadership,'' Radakovich said. ''This new agreement demonstrates to Brad our continued strong commitment and support to him, his assistant coaches and to our basketball program.''

Can't seem to find buyout from the latest contract.

Anyone know?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes I agree. BB is here another year like it or not.

In fact if he can get us to the big dance next season he will be some kind of miracle worker. We need a couple of REAL big men like 6'11" and/or 7' trees to feed some good shooting SF and SG with a PG that has a good head on his shoulders - he might have that coming in - and a couple of decent bench players.

It worries me how some decent players have not developed all that well and still don't seem to have a role with this team but that is just one worry. Next season I see us rebuilding to say the least unless the transfer portal brings forward a couple of nice surprises.

Im pulling for him.
