I think I had two semesters of physical chemistry in there. Some decrepit old tiny lecture hall upstairs with no desks, just rows of adjoined metal seats.

Me either

All my chemistry classes were in Brackett

That place was for the true nerds.

As a kid in the 80's I remember going into Brackett during

a homecoming football game. Dad and a friend (also a CU grad) started looking at the old desks they had in Brackett in the lecture rooms. They were all carved up with names, etc. Dad found his carving and desk from 1960-whatever. Friend found his desk too and pointed out his carving.

Anyway, /coolstorybro

Validated - ChemE major late 70s. The ONLY good thing ...

about Earle was walking from Johnstone by the “Shoe Boxes” in the spring when attractive young women were getting a little sun and showing a lot of skin.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, Sirrine was a shorter walk

and no f'ing chemistry/engineering stuff.

;)

I did.....

Jun 29, 2020, 8:12 AM

This was the late 80's but I can attest to it being true...

I had statics class in that building during a summer sesh

Jun 29, 2020, 10:35 AM

and during that same time period, it was a mainframe lab that had the slowest MS Word emulator emulator in history. Also it had the oldest version of Autocad (emulated off a mainframe card) that I learned 2D Autocad in (pffft 3D AC didn't even exist in wireframe at that point). I used that lab for several other classes late at night (Fortran, and another one I can't remember) because I don't think many folks knew it was there.

That lab always smelled like curry, sweat, and old mildewed paper. I remember the first time walking into it there were punch cards all over the floor and tables everywhere. I started in the fall, and I think the 2nd summer session before that was the last of the punch card use at Clemson.

I still break into cold sweats

Jun 29, 2020, 11:05 AM

At the mention of punch cards! Day...um!

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The thought of punch cards makes me shiver
