Xs and Os question: how do we defend Hilinski?

...blitz packages, or drop a few in coverage? Not saying it's an overwhelming issue, but wonder what coach V is thinking?

Mix coverages. Send a dominant edge rusher(X. Thomas and J. Foster) to make him move his feet. Even if they don't sack him - make him move his feet and he is a different QB. Some QB's are "more accurate out the pocket" to me Hillinski is not one of those!

Did you not watch their game against missouri? No need to defend against him, he will just give the ball to our defense in the endzone

We could reverse our defense and still beat them senseless . Put Pinckney and Davis at Safety and fill the middle of the DL with Muse and Wallace . That's the kind of disrespect I think we could get away with . They're about to get the final phase of our regular season to championship phase tune-up .

Jake Bentley got lucky last year in the Palmetto bowl. I think we had perhaps taken our eyes off the prize a bit and didn't shut down their offense like we should have. Which caused a bunch of stu-p-id chicken fans to squawk about how we were not that good etc.
This year after having done that in the prior year. Plus the game being at WB. I see one word for their offense: "Pain"!

He’s not very accurate when he’s on his back.

Can my DE's get to your QB before he finds the open receiver? Nobody in the country does it as well as BV.

We'll only have to defend him for 2 or 3 series when Bentley enters the game to try to recreate the game he had last year against us. Joyner will get in late.

First, that was a heck of a video. thank you for linking it.
the fridge and Kirkland on the field at the same time guaranteed violence. it was fun to see that again.
as fun as that was, we have a better unit and team than we did then and USuC doesn't have anything like Major Harris. I'm thinking all we need to do to contain Hellinski is be an excited Clemson.

Our secondary will make sure they don't get embarrassed like last year. I'd be shocked if they score a touchdown before the fourth quarter, if at all.
Gamecocks fixin' to get dumptrucked.

Easiest question...so easy in fact that my driver standing in the back of the room will answer it...Hilinski will not complete many passes sitting on his ###!

He is going to throw bubble screens to Edwards all day. Edwards is their offense and if we shut him down then Hilinski will have no where to throw the ball. They will also get it to Edwards on the sweep. We are going to have to be able to defend the edge. Not that they can beat us that way, but I want to shut them down like we did WF, who is a much better offensive team.

Honestly, I don't think defending them is hard. They have zero running game. They will be in 3rd and long all day which will make our life easy.
I have only one concern: Markway. He's about the only coot I wish was on our roster. Very good TE and a weapon. They killed us with the TE last year. A good TE has been able to exploit CBV D regularly. We have to have a good scheme against it.
I'm not worried about USC WR's. Edwards may get a catch or two but Hilinski isn't going to have time to throw deep.
I'm not worried about USC's running game. When they are at their best, they are average.
