This is, according to the NCAA process, due process

The Investigative report is what it is, and it's never going to be adjudicated for truth in a court of law, and nor should it.
It is being accepted as truth by PSU and the NCAA and PSU has AGREED to these penalties. They probably do have grounds to fight some of them on a purely procedural basis, but they are wise in not doing so.
It's a big punishment, no doubt. But it is NOT a death penalty. It's roughly 1 yr of gross revenue for the football program, and 10 scholarships a year for 4 years. It's tough, no doubt, and it'll hurt, but they'll be back.
And hopefully when they are back in the national spotlight it'll be with leadership in place that is both trustworthy and operating under tight oversight.

The fans, alumni, students, and state have some blame
Jul 23, 2012, 5:30 PM

For supporting and enjoying a system which placed such power and lack of oversight in the hands of a few men willing to cover up such activities.
If it happened at Clemson, we'd all have some of the same blame for employing a leadership organization with such an obvious lack of oversight.

How are they responsible for something they knew nothing about?
Are the fans, alumni, students and state at Univ. of Colorado-Denver responsible for the massacre in Colorado because the ### went there?

I'm not speaking of legal liability

I am speaking of being part of a system which allows such power to exist with a such a clear and obvious lack of oversight.
And no, they are not responsible in the least for Sandusky. The evil actions committed by an evil man belong to that man alone.
However, fans who feel 'wronged' by this punishment should, at least for a second, consider that they supported an organization that placed such clear and strong power in the unchecked hands of a few men that they were able to cover up such actions.
And I'm not being callous here. I'd think the same would apply to me if it happened at Clemson.
And at the end of the day were talking about a sports team and their fans. We're not talking about rounding up all the fans and alumni and charging them with crimes which they clearly are not guilty of.

By blindly following those in power (Joe Pa) and putting them in a position where they were untouchable.
Heck, Partino was so powerful the School's president couldn't fire him when they tried. The fans were the one's that allowed that to happen.

had a big part in making Paterno bigger than life and making him think he was invincible.
with your thinking, no school should ever get punishment because it hurts the fans, alumni & students.

I never was a PSU fan but I syphathize with their players and fanbase . They are all victims to this unspeakable tragedy. Should Joepa and every other coach be forced to retire on their 65th birtday? It makes you question their judgement on these extreme situations.

It seems that the school/fans/students/alumni simply placed unchecked power in the hands of leadership that was incapable handling it correctly.

Penn State asked for this. They were the ones that asked for the report cause they wanted to get through this.Well the old saying goes "Becareful what you asked for cause you might not like what you get".Their program should've gotten worse. If you kid was one of the victims Im sure you would want to wait on due process.Hope Former President,AD and anybody else named in the case get a room right beside sandbuttski.

Those "look the other way" ######## got off easy. Joe Pa was a two bit thug pedo-enabler who covered for his buddy and his beloved football program. They should tear PSU's stadium to the ground and melt down joepa's statue, then use the metal to make a brand that says "Child Rape Enabler" and brand the forehead of every piece of human filth involved in the coverup.

an admission of guilt to the details that we're presented within the FBI's report. They signed an agreement to the punishment which waived their opportunity for a hearing. It is done!
