Would the David Dunham hit be flagged in today's game?

Oct 8, 2016, 9:00 AM

Seems like any time a defender puts a good hit on a QB, it is considered targeting and dirty. Boulware's hit was against a QB who had tucked the ball and was committed to running. Ryan scored a TD pass during the Dunham hit. I know the rule has changed. At least The flag on Ben was reversed.

They would charge him with rape these days...

...because that hit on Ryan by Dunham was sick.

Are you talkin' about that play where Ryan got his head

Oct 8, 2016, 9:19 AM

...knocked off, they picked his carcass up off the field and hauled him off to the morgue, but he woke up and wasn't actually dead so he came back to the game and beat us. If that's the hit you're talking about, I gained a tremendous amount of respect for Ryan on that very day, and Yes, that would definitely have been called targeting under today's rules.

I think that hit is why Ryan is still a little off

on the field and off the field. Some of his decisions just make you
scratch your head. The church league co-ed basketball team comes to mind.
Really?? Even some of his team mates questioned his commitment to the team after that
story came out.

Think Matt Ryan's shoulders touched with that hit.

He has to be the toughest QB we've faced and I was more than happy when he graduated.

Ah, yes... Matt Ryan... his name ranks right up there with Calvin Johnson... names that shall not be spoken in my house! LOL.

It isn't about how hard the hit is as to whether or not it's targeting, it's about whether or not it was a shot to the head. If I remember correctly, Dunham's hit was shoulder to chest. Perfectly legal even in today's game.
