bold move cotton. let's see if this pays off for her

Nov 5, 2018, 6:13 PM

This was a pretty gutsy thing to do considering they dumped their QB for it. Does she get fired or is this a PR nightmare because of social media backlash?

What's your take tigernetters?

You would know exactly what it is about if you read the article. If you don't want to maybe posting in another thread would be better use of your time.

Is just let the cheerleaders know that the NFL is not there to

Nov 5, 2018, 7:51 PM

provide them a political platform. It may not have been clear before. If she did it again I’d let her go.

I think if I was an NFL owner, I would definitely find a reason for termination if she was a cheerleader for my team. Within the policy some where, I'm sure there is something that warns about such things as that, and I would have someone reading every word of every policy concerning cheerleaders. IMO, she has created a poisonous fruit within that part of the organization that never needed being there!!! Just my opinion!!!

There have been cases in the past that these ladies have been dismissed from the "team" for all kinds of reasons having nothing to do with Cheerleading... I am thinking that one of the Dallas Cowgirls was dismissed (fired) for doing an autographing sessions that was not approved by her "Den Mother"...(See Simon Legree....)

Re: bold move cotton. let's see if this pays off for her

Nov 6, 2018, 12:21 PM

I have no problem with it.

I find it funny/strange that so many preach that people have the right to protest but then get upset when there is a protest. The place, time, or type of protest is never good enough.

It’s like they say it’s ok to protest but they really don’t want a protest.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

the right to protest is important. I think the reason people

Nov 6, 2018, 12:52 PM

Don't like this type of protest is because they are on the clock. People who choose to protest at work are taking a big risk.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don’t think that’s fair. There are thousands and thousands

Nov 6, 2018, 1:05 PM [ in reply to Re: bold move cotton. let's see if this pays off for her ]

of protests every year whose timing is not questioned. But sometimes it’s a bad move. Chanting during a moment of silence, protesting a soldier’s funeral, or while you are representing your employer are just not appropriate.

What I find so funny/strange is how many people talk about her rights. No one is questioning her right to protest. No one is calling for the government to lock her up. But not should anyone question the team’s right to part ways with her. They are not there for a cheerleader to have a political platform.

If I use my job as a platform to protest, I would get fired...rightfully so. If you own a company and your employees use your company to mount divisive protests, you would be wise to part ways with them. It is really funny to me that people think otherwise.

Re: I don’t think that’s fair. There are thousands and thousands

Nov 6, 2018, 1:49 PM

The question was asked if I had a problem with this. I said I don’t. Here is my take.

1. I would not advise anyone to protest the way that you listed. It can be in poor test but can also be very effective.
2. There ARE some people who question her right to do this.
3. Even when people protest or publically express their opinions in “appropriate manner” they can still lose their jobs.

That to me is the problem. If someone does not like what I say or do, they go after my livelihood. That hinders people from have a civil discussion of the issues.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Possibly but that is not the case here.

Nov 6, 2018, 1:58 PM

You are correct that if I protest in a way that can wash up on my employer, they may part ways with me. Disappointing but that is their choice. They have to look out for themselves.

I’ll take your word for it that people are calling for her arrest. I had not seen that, and agree that it is completely silly.

Re: Possibly but that is not the case here.

Nov 6, 2018, 2:14 PM

I didn’t say her arrest. People are questioning her right to do it.

I finish this by saying this. Ms midland and I have made it a policy to never publically express our opinions. We have had a couple of close friends financially harmed by doing so. We vote and discuss issue with family and friends but we never go on any social media to express our views. Maybe we are cowards but there is Too much to lose.
