Would Jeff Scott be a good replacement for Morris?

Since we all know Morris will only be here for 2-3 more years, why not hire somebody who has already been learning under him? Maybe Jeff Scott can step into that role. Hes already an excellent recruiter and looks to me as though the players really like him. Just curious as to what other people think about it....

Based on what? That sounds like a lofty goal.
I don't think Morris will still be here when Chad Kelly graduates.
I think 2-3 more years then Morris gets a head coaching job in a BCS conference.

Why don't people understand that?
That is what Dabo is building. To build a Dynasty you have to maintain some strong continuity on your staff and that is what both sides were looking for when they came in.
Chad & BV.
And there is no replacement for The Chad. He is simply the best OC there is, period.

groomed for this position. They should have plenty of time to master the system before Morris leaves. They are both bright, young coaches.
This training and replacement plan may already be in progress. I would be very surprised if it wasn't.

i second this motion! the chad will talk with dabo about who should follow him. he'll have time invested in the players on the roster and he will want to see them succeed, so he will help pick his own replacement.

possible replacement. He's young and has time to grow and mature into a larger role. Whether he would ultimately get offered the job when the time comes is another story though. Dabo's learning on the job too and believe he would only go that route if he was absolutely convinced it was the best choice possible. We obviously have the funding for anyone here.
About Morris leaving though... he's making bank as an OC, without the added pressure and responsibilities as the top guy, and Clemson is, well, it's Clemson. It's hard to find greener pastures than here. I don't know that a few extra hundred k annually would be worth the move and the risk when the time comes, especially if we're winning big and he's clicking along. He's only $150k away from the average FBS head coach salary as it is right now.

No he would not be. I think Jeff is doing a great job as recruiter but not sure he is ready for big time coordinator position.
It is not just about the plays, it is having the knack to know what play to call and when and setting up future plays by running a certain play at a certain time to do so. (although I still am not in favor of all the trick plays we've been running even when they have been successful)
There are very few really excellent coordinators in the country. Kinda like how there are very few teams that still play defense well. Thankfully we got one of them (offensive coordinator that is). Maybe Jeff would be good at it, I dont know but at this time I am not willing to take that chance.
We would need a proven QB position coach as well.
