With the Whole World Going Crazy Right Now...

I am so glad we can count on Clemson University to be a stable force in this crazy world. I feel confident about sending my son there in the fall, because Clemson still has a relatively good grasp of conservatism (in this world of growing liberalism). We are lucky that Clemson is tucked away in the corner of the state where the politics of the big cities have not intruded too much. I know it's just a matter of time before the rampant liberal agenda invades Clemson (it is already there to a degree), but I hope it will always be tempered by our military past and conservative values and traditions. I do think that conservatism will one day be the norm again, but until that day comes, I hope Clemson can hold onto its past.
This is not meant to be a political statement on Republicans versus Democrats, nor an I knocking anyone's beliefs, it is simply nice to see a university not exploding with problems during this troubled time in the world.

I was born in 1945, the 50s were great. The 60s we’re awesome until the dopeheads and hippies were so rampant. The US changed then and has never recovered. Just call me an old fart. I’m proud to be a Tiger and an oldfart .

When has the world ever not been apesh!t crazy?
The Cold War? There were 55,000 Russian tanks parked on the East German border, ready to roll across in the name of Historical Process, that golden moment in history when Communism would one day inevitably displace Capitalism...even if, you know, the Russkies had to give history a push. I still remember doing the occasional nuclear drill along with tornado and fire drills, because, you know, at any time the Cold War might go hot and Soviet nukes might start dropping out of the sky. Before that we had all that fun in Vietnam and before that, Korea, and of course then you're into World War II, the Great Depression, and World War I...
...and that's just the 1900's.
You say something often enough, people start to believe it, but the world today isn't any different than it ever was, though we perhaps have an overload of information at our fingertips to make it seem more so.
People are still people. And we still have stuff we gotta fix or it's going to fix us. Just a different set of problems, is all.
Same as it ever was.

In a way, this is the essence of life - the consistent rising to the challenge of new circumstances - trying to build on the positive and minimize the negative - individually and collectively.
This is one of the things that bothers me about conservatives. They seem to want the world to remain as it used to be - when that has never happened in the history of humans. And refusing to face the changing challenges makes our response to them inadequate.
