Win Streaks and Losing Streaks - just some silly stats

Had some spare time on my hands today and was curious about some of our winning streaks. :)

This is only going back thru 2017-2008

CLEMSON has current winning streaks against at least 32 teams since 2008, and current losing streaks to at least 8 teams. The streaks could be longer since I stopped at 2008. I know there are some teams that have never beaten CLEMSON, but I didn't go back to the beginning of time. Plus there are teams that beat CLEMSON prior to 2008 but have not played us again since then.

Wake - 9
BC - 7
Va Tech - 6 - could be longer
NCSU - 6
Auburn - 4
Louisville - 4 (I think we have only played them 4 times)
USUC - 4
SC State - 4 - could be longer
GT - 3
FSU - 3
Citadel - 3 - could be longer
UNC - 3
UVA - 3 - could be longer
Miami - 2
Ohio State - 2 - could be longer
Wofford - 2 - could be longer
OU - 2 - could be longer
Duke - 2 - could be longer
Several more at 1 and all of them could be longer

We have current 1-game losing streaks against these guys since 2008:
SU
Bama
Pitt
UGA
WVA
South Florida
TCU
Nebraska

Interesting is: We beat Va Tech twice in one year, and lost to GT twice in one year. I thought USUC would be one of the longest streaks, but wow - we have kicked some serious booty.

Okay - now we're kind of caught up. LOL

We've beaten VT 5 in a row (not 6).

I know we're 3-0 all-time vs Ohio St.

Interesting stats.

Our winning streak vs The Citadel is much longer than 3. As DT would say "it's tremendous" - hey we ain't coots. In fact the last time we lost to The Citadel, Frank Howard was a young head coach and the loss resulted in his meeting with several key folks after the game to begin a new athletic booster club to be named IPTAY.

OK so I did my homework and we are currently on a 17 game winning streak vs El Cid. The last time we lost to them was Oct 6, 1931, by a score of 0-6 in a game played in Florence. The coots by the way are 1-2 vs The Citadel since 1990.

I was entirely wrong about which coach was credited with the loss. Jess Neely was in his first year as Clemson head football coach. Frank Howard was in his first year as line coach, straight out of college...and my grandfather was what was referred to as a Clemson rat.
