Why...I say WHY not....the next Clemson BB coach may already

Mar 19, 2019, 1:05 PM

be in Clemson.

I remember a certain football coach with no head coaching experience that worked out pretty well for us. I'm neither advocating for keeping or firing coach BB, but would rather see TO get a shot than some "big name" coach with baggage.

this will not be popular, but if Texas parts ways with Shaka

I think he would be a great hire for Clemson. Young, energetic, has had success, former staff member, exciting brand of play, would be able to recruit here.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think that is one we should jump at should he be available.

Neither Smart nor Wade will ever return to Clemson.

Put Tanner Smith in this category too. Already has a win againat Brad as an assistant to Miss State..

Shaka is somewhat similar to Brownell and OP...

Pretty good defensive coach but often times his offenses lack an identity and have trouble scoring.

I think you may have it all wrong. I think this would be a very popular pick if he ever leaves Texas.

Shaka is a welcomed improvement over Brown-L***

Shaka did great at VCU, but that is a mid-major program with outstanding history and support. It is much easier to win there than at Clemson. My concern is that at a high major program like Texas, with excellent funding and support, in a state loaded with basketball talent, he is just 66-66. They have finished no higher than 4th in the Big XII, and that was his first year at Texas with Rick Barnes's players. In the years since, they have finished 10th, 6th, and 6th.

Why should Clemson get a coach who has proven after four years at Texas that he is the definition of average? For reference, Brad has won 57% of his games here, at a school with a far worse basketball history and much less financial and fan support than Texas, and based on posts here that's awful and worth firing him over.

Oh, and Shaka's buyout is $13 million. No thanks.

Clemson shouldn't hire a coach that someone else doesn't want, who couldn't get it done in a much more ideal scenario, no matter how "cool" or "exciting" they or their style of play might seem.

Yea, I've got to second this. Brad has a better record over the same time frame and more NCAA tournament wins.

I agree, I'd love it if Clemson hired Shaka Smart***
