Why wouldn't LSU or OSU prefer to play Clemson in the

first round vs in the championship game? Gives them three weeks to prepare instead of just one week.
If their goal is to win the championship [and not just to make it to the championship], they're going to have to go through Clemson anyway.

So is your estimation that those teams have better coaching than Clemson?
I would think the longer wait time would favor the team with the best preparation.
Coaches' gameplanning and players ability to learn the gameplans has a large advantage.

Because avoiding Clemson likely means being the 1 seed, which means your two games would be one game vs a 4 seed (likely win), than a second game vs either the 2 or 3 seeds (even odds). However, if you are a 2 seed and Clemson is a 3 seed you have to play two games of likely even odds. The first option is a much better option.
