For everyone of those you can find, I can find you 10 of these:
I'm all for the 2nd Amendment, I just wish we could find a way to keep them out of the hands of stupid people.

Owning a gun is like owning a car. It's a responsibility and hopefully this woman was charged for being negligent. The actions of stupid people shouldn't prevent responsible gun owners from protecting themselves.

a multi year licensing process which includes a period where you can only use it with an experienced person, and we should make people have insurance on it?

The 10:1 thing is BS, but otherwise its a fair point.

It all comes down to giving people the right to defend themselves and the right to not RELY on the government for safety.
The amount of things that we want the government to do for us is a threat to the longevity of our civilization.

--
A man told Atlanta police he was shot Friday morning after a scuffle downtown that involved his own gun changing hands with his alleged attackers.
According to police, the man called 911 around 2:10 a.m. to report he was walking to his vehicle in the area of 150 Pine Street when two men attacked him. The victim drew his gun to defend himself, but he dropped it, and one of the assailants picked it up, he told officials.
“The handgun was then recovered by one of the suspects, who fired a round at the victim, striking him in the hand,” Atlanta police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said.
Somehow, the shooter dropped the gun, and the victim regained control of it, according to police.
“The victim then fired upon the suspects and the suspects fled the location,” Daugherty said.
The victim called police from the area of Peachtree and Baker streets after getting into his car and driving away.
He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition. He has not been named.
Police said they are looking into the incident further.

keep my own family safe.
It is not wise, in my opinion, to rely on the government and society to keep you safe.
Are there idiots out there? Sure. But I am sick of thoughtful, talented people having their wings clipped to try and keep idiots safe.
We need to encourage and reward responsible people. Instead of just making the average person dumber and more inept with every new rule and regulation.
