Walker Georgia". Herschel Walker was a highly recruited player who ended up at UGA. The rumor was that Georgia bought his commitment with a car. His Freshman year at Georgia was sensational and he should have won the Heisman! He was beaten out by George Rodgers at USCE (East Coast). The summer after his stellar year, a Georgia alum gave him a job as a "Life Insurance" salesman. Walker was also exceptionally gifted as a salesman! He "earned" commissions of $30,000 for about three part time weeks of work. The NCAA responded by making a rule that made it a violation for a to have any job where his status as a player could affect his earning potential.
