Which arm was ruined at South Carolina? See this all the time, just wondering which pitcher had his arm ruined?

Leggett did the right thing, early in season they have a pitch count and he stuck to it. 1 game in a long season.

Woooooooooooooooooo. So 76 pitches is our count? If that is true it is going to be a long season DE. That is a borderline ridiculous statement to make. If your getting up to 90 then your looking at pulling. Gossett has gone 100 plus before.

You at least let Gossett get to 88-90 yesterday. I think if you ask Jack today why he pulled him he would tell you I screwed up.

better read the paper then palmetto. it is a long season and yes daniel probably could have gone one more inning. havent we seen enough arms blown out in cooterville. we had a 4-1 lead and a veteran bullpen. there was nothing at all wrong with the move. i am quite sure had they not had faith in pohle he would not have put him in. didnt work out. most everyone else pitched great. are we gonna sit krieger cause he made an error.

I will ask again, what arms have you seen blown out at South Carolina? DERoberts you made a statement, "haven't we seen enough arms blown out in Cootville", which arms??

All pitchers are on a pitch count this early and 1 game will not make or break your season. Coaches give the pitchers their pitch limits and they know when they're coming out. Absolute right thing to do with your starter.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The damage is done, but doesn't always show until

Feb 15, 2014, 3:58 PM

later in their careers, if they go pro. Each arm is only capable of so many pitches over a lifetime. That number differs by person, but if you wear it out when you are younger, your "expiration date" may be artificially advanced a bit.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's GAME 1 . . . you can't be serious . . . . wow.***

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

It's called pitch count genius. Also it's game one of a long season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Even in MLB, they try and limit pitch count to 75-80

Feb 15, 2014, 7:42 AM

the first time out.

Re: Even in MLB, they try and limit pitch count to 75-80

Feb 15, 2014, 8:39 AM

In the MLB they have a full staff of arms getting paid 40 million dollars. In the MLB these guys might get 20 plus starts.

Completely different scenario. You can't compare the college game and MLB. Also, not every pitcher in the MLB is put on a strict 75-80 pitch count. Generalizing like that is completely inaccurate.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So, what is accurate?!?!?

Feb 15, 2014, 9:22 AM

Jack is the suxor?!?!

I agree that JL often overcoaches but we should have

Feb 15, 2014, 7:54 AM

more than 1 arm that can beat Eastern Michigan. Hell, yesterday was probably their first day outside. Offense still a little weak

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This. We should have won with any of our front line

Feb 15, 2014, 3:59 PM

bullpen arms out there.

How many innings did he go ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

5 innings and mid 70s in pitch count***

Feb 15, 2014, 8:38 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He was on a pitch-count from the beginning. No need

Feb 15, 2014, 9:03 AM

to tire our best arm in the first game.

You dont know a lot about how responsible

Feb 15, 2014, 9:20 AM

coaches handle young arms in cold weather. A pitch count is used to protect the players. This is nothing new or revolutionary.

It's a shame the the next 2 pitchers did not get the job done.

First game, cold, long season. Right move by JL but

Feb 15, 2014, 10:36 AM

Regardless I'm afraid we are doomed to mediocrity until he retires. JL ain't going nowhere so may as we'll accept it.
