Why do Coots think Dabo does not develop players?

Jul 30, 2014, 12:16 PM

Any time I mention Dabo's recruiting success to a coot I always get the response, "Well he doesn't develop them, and Spurrier does". Why is this? The numbers say other wise.

Stanton Seckinger, Grady Jarrett, Sam Cooper, Adam Humphries & CJ Davidson ----All were TWO STAR recruits.

Vic Beasley, Robert Smith, Martin Jenkins, Wayne Gallman & DJ Howard---All were THREE STAR recruits.

All these players have either been major contributors for us or will be this year.

And look at the NFL draft:

Since 2009 Dabo has had 28 players picked in the NFL draft….Steve Spurrier has had 19!!!

cause the first 3 spur sack won against us, they physically whipped us.

they think he's a terrible coach also

Jul 30, 2014, 12:20 PM

even though he has accomplished more in 5 years as a head coach than ALL SCAR head coaches' careers COMBINED (ACC Championship, 2 BCS bowls, 1 BCS Bowl win).

If/when a SCAR HC ever matches Dabo's feats, they'll have a statue of him erected the next week.

Touch base with me next century...

Jul 30, 2014, 12:21 PM

Well Clowney developed under Spurrier

Jul 30, 2014, 12:24 PM

Developed nagging injuries and poor work ethic. Does that count?

If CU has had better players

Jul 30, 2014, 12:31 PM

How has scar won 5 straight? Better coaching? Better game plan? Mental Edge? Blind Luck? Lack of an Oculus?

"Since 2009 Dabo has had 28 players picked in the NFL draft….Steve Spurrier has had 19!!!"

I think sos deserves credit for something, half the major teams teams coots have played/beaten since 2009 have had better recruiting classes.

the whole issue stemmed from Jungle boi de-cleating ellngton a few years back.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm going with lack of an Oculus.***

ReallyJoel,
The reasons have been different almost each game. Lack of player development has not been one of them.

Yes, Spurrier has beat teams with better recruiting classes, but so has Dabo. LSU, Auburn, UGA, FSU and Ohio St come to mind.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No offense to the players you listed

Jul 30, 2014, 12:54 PM

But the only two who have performed at a high level have been Beasley and Jarrett.

Dabo certainly deserves credit for those but you're reaching on the others.

development is if other teams would like to have them now but were not particularly interested in recruiting them out of HS. All of the names he included fit that criteria and only the new kids are excluded.

Let us not be deceived by phrases about ‘Man taking charge of his own destiny.’ All that can really happen is that some men will take charge of the destiny of others. . . . The more completely we are planned the more powerful they will be. - C.S. Lewis

Dabo will have two #1 RB and two #1 WR

On opening day in the NFL

YOU ARE RIGHT...NO PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

Classof09,

All the two stars I mentioned are starters, and very good ones at that. Most two stars rarely ever see the field, and if they do it's usually on special teams.

what the heck does a Coot know about anything? Dumb, dumber and dumbest describes their school!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You have to give them that argument after they have

Jul 30, 2014, 2:11 PM

beaten us 5 straight.

Re: You have to give them that argument after they have

Jul 30, 2014, 3:49 PM

Why would you give them that when it isn't even close to true. Since Dabo took over he has brought in 85 players, if those 85 28 have been drafted. During the same time Scar brought in around 120 players and had 26 drafted. So during the same time period CU had almost 1/3 of its roster drafted while SCar had just over 1/5.

At what point does what a coot think matter?

Jul 30, 2014, 2:26 PM

Squawk, squawk, peck means nothing to me.

Our changing of the guard had to happen and we all know the future is burnt orange.

Re: Why do Coots think Dabo does not develop players?

Did you mean to use "coots" and "think" in the same sentence? That would be approaching oxymoron status.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You got how relevant the OP was, I assume.
