A bold prediction about GT

Oct 2, 2014, 12:47 PM

It probably won't happen, but I'm going to predict that they lose out.

Miami
Duke
@Unc
@Pitt
UVA
@NCST
Clemson
@UGA

I think Pitt and UVA are the most winnable games.

Seems contradictory to me... "A bold prediction, but prolly wont happen." Hmmm....

True. I think they aren't as good as any of those teams, but they always get lucky.

Miami is in Atlanta at night. Those are tough games to win. I remember going down there and being amazed that Georgia Tech was allowed to get away with pumping in so much music and their side banners and monitors are like dang strobe lights.

Side bar: Paul Johnson gets a lot of hate on T-Net but you kind of have to admire their strategy. They basically gave up on being an elite program but will consistently have 7-9 win seasons.

Why admire that strategy - it is quitting. I understand not

wanting to spend the money required for major D1 football. They could join the SoCon, cut the budget and still have as your goal to win. What they are doing now is just a waste of resources.

I have said many times, I have no issue if Clemson joined the SoCon feeling that the college football arms race is no longer in alignment with the priorities of a University.

Strive for excellence in whatever level of football you are playing. Don't strive for mediocre.

I recant my statement.

You're right, all 128 FBS teams should consider themselves as NC caliber teams and consider anything less as failure.

Continues to shock me that GT gets away with the strobes

after getting embarrassed by Akron. But it's entirely plausible they lose the vast majority of their remaining games.
