in late July of 1995 and found TigerNet a few days later. There weren't many of us then. A post would stay on the first page for a couple of days. I remember contributing to Crump's first digital camera so he could post some photos. Back then there was only one chat room and it would only support 20 chatters, and if it was refreshed too quickly it would shut down. There was a server change or two in the late 90's so the earliest members are shown as '98. Some of us were at least 3 years prior to that. I don't post much anymore, but TigerNet has been my home page for more than 20 years.

Actually, I started before 1998. I had been on it for a couple of years at that point. For some reason in 1998 the dates were all reset. There are several that were on it pre-1998 but I not even sure there is a way to track who those people are at this point.

making us log in with a username. In true Tigernet fashion, coots were pizzed. Before that you just came up with any user name you liked. Your ip was posted next to it so you could protect yourself from identity thieves.

Dood, I apologize for reading your original handle as duckunt 'Da kunt.' There are a few trolls here who might deserve that handle.

User ID No.1 is Oregon Tiger

Jan 19, 2016, 2:57 PM

Who hasn't logged in since 2012. http://www.tigernet.com/view/profile.do?userID=1

User ID No.2 is krbclemson who hasn't logged in since 2005.

User ID No.3 is 85Tiger who appears to be active, but not actively posting. I would declare him the winner.

User ID No.4 is Centennial Tiger is pretty actively posting.

User ID No.5 is tigerjim® who is a donor...so I am going to calling him the winner.

But as others have said, bunch of people ported over to the new server, the ID No.'s I listed were just the first to get ported, not necessarily here the longest.

Cole @ Beach Cole w/ Clemson Hat

Yeah, I remember those days

Jan 20, 2016, 9:52 AM

I first ran across TigerNet in December of 1995. In addition to tigernet2.com, there was thetigernet.com. It was a close community, since there were very few users. Of that number were some coach's wives (let that sink in for minute), which meant we got great inside info, even though it may have been biased. We tailgated together, met up for socials at various times, and held fundraisers for new servers. Anyone remember ICTAT ("I Clicked Ten Ads Today")?

Some old handles to look for:

85Tiger
tigercub
NGaTiger
Stonewall
Swamp Fox
tigerdoc
TigerSmith'75
Charlotte Tiger
ClempSon
Gamecock Professor
Dain Bramaged
Tiger TC
ATL PAW MAN
Tiger at GT
Heavy Water Tiger

I know I've left out some handles, but I do remember their names. I still consider many of these friends. You may notice, though, very few of these post anymore, and I would say none of them are regulars.

I don't post so much anymore myself, and when I do it's not nearly as thoughtful or insightful or funny as during those early days. Priorities, relationships, interests, and time (or lack thereof) preclude me from doing so. There are many others who craft excellent posts anyway, so y'all aren't missing much.

Over the years -- necessarily -- the site has changed. Mostly for the better, but some for the worse (you know who you are). Regardless, this is still the best site for All Things Clemson.
