Remember when he won about 9 games, of 11, and was fired by Bama..and think he went to TN. The world goes around, and back it seems.

Being a youngster myself (C.U. Class of '75), I remember when Tennessee threw Bill Battle away after the 1976 season. I recall this as I thought he may have been a 'person of interest' for Clemson to pursue after we had parted ways with Red Parker. Kinda glad they didn't, as it worked out!

I did a little homework on ye olde internet (Wikipedia), and according to his web page there, Tennessee was Bill's only Head Coaching gig, from 1970-1976. He was a student-athlete at Alabama and played for the 'Bear' from '60 to'62, which included the 1961 National Championship team.

Just a little insight.
