Poised: Deshaun Watson ready to run down the hill
Deshaun Watson is the picture of poise, whether it’s throwing a touchdown pass at Georgia in his first collegiate game, staring down No. 1 Florida St. on the road, facing his arch-rival with a torn ACL or coming back from that injury. He doesn’t get rattled or excited. Unless he’s running down the hill prior to a Clemson home game. Full Story » |

Who can honestly say they dont like this kid!!?

This kid is the most humble player ive ever heard speak. He never says "i" its always "we". He knows that he is probably the best QB in college football today and it still does not affect him in the slightest. We as Clemson fans are a lucky bunch to have so many on the team that are that way. This is going to be a great season and im counting down the days to when i see them run down the hill for the 1st time of the 2015 season. Go Tigers!

I LOVE THIS YOUNG MAN!
And the reason we have so many like him on this team is not an accident. You can thank Dabo for that! ??
And by the way, I love him too! ??

I agree mostly. I think it's good to have a little personal swagger too. I think it was after the UNC game he said, "I don't take a backseat to nobody".

Tommy Bowden started it in 1990

It is complete walk through of game day. Players arrive in the locker room and get dressed for practice and then hop on shuttles and drive around the stadium and go down the hill. The coaches go so far as donning the headsets and the coaches that will be up in the box during a game are in the box and they communicate using/testing the headset communications. The players practice and even go through the halftime routine of going in the locker room and coming back out. It is a great idea especially since it is such a unique stadium entrance.

It's a reminder that they are still kids, and to not get too cocky.

It always makes me nervous when the players run down the hill skipping and leaping. But for some reason, upon seeing this on the Tnet front page, I am genuinely afraid for DW to run down the hill. Please be careful DW!

Just my take ....

But if a player can't make it down the hill, then unlikely to play through 12 tough football games.
Having said that ... me too.

Should DW4 zip line down the hill with an Orange cape?

Or just ascend from the top of the Oculus and fly to mid-field ?
So many tough decisions?

...the team walking boldly in-step and in-arm 4-5 wide down the hill and then sprinting when they reach the field. Not every time, just once every few years. It would have to be an idea from the seniors.

If you want to see them walk arm-in-arm

then get to the stadium earlier. The whole team links arms to walk off the field after warmups.

Yes. Seen it many times. From the field even. A great sight.

That's been going on for a while and it's fine in it's own right.
Not really my point though.
Doesn't really matter. The hill entrance is always fantastic; never fails to disappoint. However, players HAVE been injured in the past so I second the sentiment of previous posters that it's great that they "run down the hill" but makes me nervous when they "leap" down the hill

If you go down the hill yourself you'll see that there is pretty much no choice but to "leap."
When you hit the flat spot on the hill you risk falling down if you don't hit it hard and jump at least a little. Even walking down the hill you have to be careful when it flattens out.
