Who calls the OL protections in Clemson's Offense?

Jan 9, 2018, 9:10 AM

Is it the QB, Center or Senior Offensive Guard/Lineman? Re-watching the game, it seemed we had a good deal of miss-ques on blocking calls. I know that our backs did not help the situation, but it seemed as though the protections for most of the night were sliding to the inside, instead of having the tackles outright engage the defensive end. In some instances the DE was let loose as the tackle blocked down unnecessarily it seemed. Anyone know the answer to this?

I thought I remembered from last year, Watson called the protections at the line, and Jay had kind of an override power if he saw something in the form of a shift or "tell" that allowed him to have the final say. It may just be a perception more than fact on my behalf.

Usually it is the center's job to call the blocking scheme.
