dementia is a mother. My dad was diagnosed with dementia back in February, I knew he had some issues before then but I attributed it to getting older. Turns out he has a very aggressive form of frontal lobe dementia, the neurologist said she's never seen such an aggressive form. It was so bad that he had to be placed in an assisted living facility back in April and thankfully in June he got a room at the VA in Anderson. I'm pretty sure he has no clue who I am anymore, he hasn't called me by name the last 2 times I've been to see him. He got to the point where he didn't realize that he is married and has begged my mom to marry him. Next week will be their 47th anniversary so this past Sunday we had a "wedding" at the VA. My mom invited some of their friends and we had a nice little ceremony.
It sux to see someone that you've known all your life to be so strong in this condition. I'm not bitter, I made my peace with this months ago but I hate to see my mom having to go through all this.
Ts & Ps, incense burning, tree hugging etc. appreciated.

To have lived most of a lifetime, and then have something like that come around that takes away those last years that you worked all your life to finally sit back and enjoy. Your family gets the Ts & Ps, incense burning, AND the tree hugging today my friend. And if I can do anything to help, I hope you know all you have to do is ask.

as a child when I was 10 with my grandmother and my father. It's pretty heartbreaking. My mom's mom is going through some of it now as well. Never a fun thing.
I will hug your tree if you need me to.

although my Dad can remember everything from the distant past just not much of the recent past.

my grandmother went through it and a friend of mine's dad a few years ago, he wasn't very old either.
