Good move by the ACC to secure its spot in the major bowl games. Kind of an obvious move but they still deserve some credit. Now keep digging to try to get as many tie-ins as possible before all of this bowl stuff is sorted out.

This rewards the ACC for having a natl semifinalist by a 2nd

BUT...what if the OB is then semi...Would the ACC still get

a 2nd team? I'll bet not...

In years the OB is a semi another bowl will be set to host the ACC representative. If the ACC sends a team to the playoff that bowl will still host an ACC team. That will be set at the beginning of the season before the playoff teams are known.

That's reasonable.

Jul 3, 2012, 11:28 AM

It's also reasonable that the other four conference can expect the same consideration.

Where does it explicity say that? I read it again and I do

not see it...I may be wrong...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, I believe you are correct.

Jul 3, 2012, 12:03 PM

I can not find where it says that. Reason seems to indicate that the ACC wouldn't be punished or disadvantaged for having a special team, one that seeds in the playoff.

Whether true or not I expect the other four will have exactly the same deal.

that would be icing on the cake but the bigger issue is that

Jul 3, 2012, 12:22 PM [ in reply to Where does it explicity say that? I read it again and I do ]

ACC is guaranteed a big bowl spot in years OB hosts semi and champion might not be in top 4 playoff.

If the OB is a semifinal, and the ACC Champ is selected as

one of the top 4 teams that will participate in the semifinal, then the ACC is not guaranteed a second team as far as I can tell. If however, the OB is NOT a semifinal, and the ACC Champ is selected for the semifinals, then the ACC would be guranteed a second team in the OB.

Does that sound right?

as it stands now, that appears to be the case but it sounds

like the other is still being sorted out with other bowls as all the conference tradeoffs might be preset in some sort of undetermined rotation- Rose and Champion being possible exceptions-- Sugar, Fiesta??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Also, if the ACC had 2 teams in the semifinals....

Jul 3, 2012, 1:21 PM

a 3rd team would go to the OB if it was not a semifinal host, as I read it.
