debate in the SC State Legislature, especially the $115M incentives?
They claim the economic impact will be in the billions if it is built in Rock Hill.
The Panthers said they would move operations there if passed or stay in CLT if not.

Some debate on impact between the Commerce Dept and

An outside consultant...
"Harpootlian said he hired Rebecca Gunnlaugsson, the S.C. Department of Commerce’s former chief economist and now an analyst with a conservative think tank, to review the Commerce Department’s analysis of the Panthers deal. The department found the project’s total economic impact — including state revenue, private economic investment and jobs created — would reach $3.8 billion within 15 years.
In her analysis, Gunnlaugsson estimates the Commerce Department’s projected economic impact is overstated by nearly $2.7 billion, relying on assumptions all 150 Panthers players, coaches, staff and owners will move to South Carolina. Gunnlaugsson said the move actually will create only 208 jobs, instead of the 5,715 promised."

So from a local standpoint it’s not good but I’m guessing they will pull out of here no matter what.

GOP Senate Transportation Committee Chairman @larrygrooms proposes an amendment to require the @Panthers to play at least two home games in South Carolina if it accepts the tax breaks.
He says he went to the Panthers' first home game in Clemson and had a great time.
The comments in this thread are pretty chuckle worthy

So maybe if the Panthers move here, they'll actually start playing football.

tax incentives, then what why would one not favor giving them the incentives. That is assuming the tax incentives are deductions and not credits.
If they stay in CLT, no additional tax revenue for SC.
If they move to SC, then SC get additional tax revenue from all employees, indirect businesses, etc...
The plan is to also include a 150 room hotel and a sports ortho clinic totaling 200 employees.

taxes. I am not for any municipality actaully giving a corporation money. It is different if less money is collected than would have been. I did not care for the guys tone in the article I shared in a different universe.
