Jun 30, 2020, 9:39 AM

Was it when they no longer wanted to be a part of America?

I assume that black americans absolutely hate Africans

Jun 30, 2020, 9:42 AM

considering that Africans sold out their own people to America.

But I really have no idea.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's pretty simple really.

Jun 30, 2020, 10:05 AM

African-American Lives Matter versus Black Lives Matter

AALM versus BLM

So that's 10 syllables and 29 characters versus 4 syllables and 18 characters. 25% shorter acronym too.

I guess "they" had a meeting and voted on it?

Jun 30, 2020, 9:44 AM

All of "them"?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You crack me up....

Jun 30, 2020, 9:48 AM

and I like you because I know you’re a good man of faith.

But one thread you take the obtuse role and then you get all clever like here.

Maybe I'm always clever

Jun 30, 2020, 9:51 AM

But also willing to admit when I don't know something? :)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh no, I know...

You’re never stupid

Well, I wouldn't go that far.

What a garbage post.***

Thank you very little.

Jun 30, 2020, 10:01 AM

I raise the question because the Black population made such a big deal of the term "African Americans" but now it's not AALM, but BLM.

real answer....I don't know

Jun 30, 2020, 10:02 AM

I used the terms interchangeably. it should be Black instead of black though. especially if you're going to use it as a noun. just saying

Fair enough. Corrected.***

I've had convos with friends of mine and one said that he

Jun 30, 2020, 10:29 AM [ in reply to real answer....I don't know ]

doesn't use the term African American. He says "I've never been to Africa and I'm never going there. I'm a Black American and thats how it is.

honestly, I am not touch enough to know why or how

Jun 30, 2020, 10:35 AM

I should prefer one over the other. one could 'argue' that "I'm not black, I'm brown, so why would I want to be referred to as a black person?"

Plus, not all Black people are from Africa, so there is some distinction there as well.

idk. #notsodeepthoughtsby3timetiger

That's my big issue with the term African American

Jun 30, 2020, 11:57 AM

Like you said, not all Black folks are from Africa. And not all Black folks are American.

My step mom is an African American

Jun 30, 2020, 12:15 PM

Born and raised in Kenya. Her parents left Eastern Europe to avoid getting killed by Hitler. She moved to the States about 40 years ago and got dual citizenship about 30 years ago.

Jun 30, 2020, 1:09 PM [ in reply to That's my big issue with the term African American ]

if they come in all races, creeds, and colors?

Same here.

Also that African American inferred not being fully American.

Trump says Blacks, so that's what they go with because they respect their leader. Obama and others used AA, so that's what they used.

If black people would have voted for Hillary with the same numbers or percentages as the previous election, she would have won. But, you are right, he is the president of all of us.
