What About WINNING STEAKS - CU vs SC?

Nov 19, 2018, 6:55 AM

Tigers going for a "first ever" 5-game win steak over G-cocks. Now yes, there was a 7-game Tiger streak way back in 1934-1940.

SC currently has the only 5-game win streak by either team - HOWEVER - CU is the outright winner of "streaks" in series: 9 streaks of 4 wins, including the 7-game streak some 80 years ago - AND the current 4-game streak we're on now.

Since 1980 (modern football) CU has 5 win streaks of 4 games - - G-cocks have ONE (the Spurrier-led 5-gamer).

Looking back to 1980, Tigers are 25 & 12 vs SC. Go back to 1976, CU is 28 & 13.

Given Dabo & Tiger's tendency to achieve "firsts" - it's likely that CU's 2018 team will be the first "modern era" Tiger team to hit the 5-GAME WIN STREAK mark!

It's pretty amazing that over the entire history of the series, CU has dominated, winning over 60% of all games - especially considering they were ALL PLAYED in Columbia from game 1 - 1959!

Do the Tigers cover that 25-point spread? Maybe so, maybe not - but a win? I absolutely think YES!

Actually, there are three 5 game win streaks by the Tigers. 1934-1938, 1935-1939, 1936-1940.

I'm confused....Did they play TWICE some years?

Nov 19, 2018, 7:05 AM

If so, why isn't it shown in the various "series record books?"

You should really take a second to read his reply over again.

As far as dominance, I remember us winning 8 out of 10. We held "our rivalry is broken" signs.

Uh-oh....looks like the old brain has an aversion to the letter "R." Or in my case - an "avesion..." Sorry, but thanks for catching that!

When Clemson gets up by 21 before the end of the 1st quarter

Nov 19, 2018, 9:18 AM

u5c will rollover and quit and Dabo starts substituting liberally after the half.

Who knows, maybe this year, u5c may actually cross mid field before the fourth quarter.

Clemson is, by far, the best team u5c has played all year. Their mouthy, ignorant and deluded fans would never admit it, but they know it.

Clemson has more talent and Clemson is better coached.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
