What's the matter with yall?

Sep 21, 2014, 4:58 PM

Players and recruits read this bored. Could you imagine being a kicker recruit considering Clemson right now? Some of you need to grow up!

i'd be thinking if i can hit a 20 yarder, I start.***

Bingo

when so many were down on Stoudt, and the coaches for keeping him listed as the starter, I defended Stoudt. He had experience in the system, had taken snaps in a number of games... Also, that would Stoudt, or some team member or recruit be reading this, then we could very easily do real harm by getting into Stoudt's head or those of the possible recruit. Well, I was wrong. Watson left no doubt last night that he is the guy for the job.

Now for Lakip.
He is likely under the age of 21, in college (a nice one) and his first love in sports is soccer. I dont want to beat up on the guy, not even in a forum such as this, but he has shown himself to be unreliable. If we have another option, we should use it. And if there are recruits reading this; if you can hit field goals from a reasonable distance and point afters, you will likely be embraced.

Imagine how Lakip's family feels reading this board today.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe they should be practicing FGs with him...

Sep 21, 2014, 5:03 PM

...instead of reading this board. Then they wouldnt have to worry about it,

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Maybe they should be practicing FGs with him...

Sep 21, 2014, 5:04 PM

Well I think that's pretty hateful but we're all entitled to our opinions.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I havent said the first negative thing about him on here...

Sep 21, 2014, 5:07 PM

other than to say I dont think he's good enough and a lot of the loss is on him. But I dont think thats being mean... if he and his family could argue otherwise than go for it. But I do believe that between classes, practice, and other things, if a player can get on here just to see what people are saying about him, then he needs to look at his priorities. Theres a ton of stupid, negative stuff said on here so why would they wanna see it?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You can't put a loss on the kicker. Even though it is

Sep 21, 2014, 5:08 PM

football.

Those uprights are there for a reason; field goals & extra points aren't gimmes.

& neither should athletic scholarships be.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I said a lot of the loss is on him. Norris, CJ, and...

Sep 21, 2014, 5:11 PM

Stoudt's poor throw can shoulder the blame as well. Million plays in a game, but any coach will tell you that close games come down to two or three plays.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Is he not getting a full academic scholarship?

Sep 21, 2014, 5:05 PM [ in reply to Re: i'd be thinking if i can hit a 20 yarder, I start.*** ]

I seriously don't think that's very fair to a lot of people out there.

Because there are likely a lot of people out there that can kick better than him.

Can I? Nope, I'll openly admit it. But I'm just sayin'.

That guy's getting paid to be Clemson's kicker??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hey, this isn't CHESS, his family will be fine but he needs

Sep 21, 2014, 5:05 PM [ in reply to Re: i'd be thinking if i can hit a 20 yarder, I start.*** ]

To learn how to kick a field goal when it matters... SC State doesn't matter, FSU, Georgia does.... Pretty sure he is a man, if he can't take it then go home.

No room for cowards on a football team, get over yourself and stand accountable!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Hey, this isn't CHESS, his family will be fine but he needs

Sep 21, 2014, 5:07 PM

I bet you wouldn't call this kid a coward to Dabo's face. That's all I'll say. Think about your response carefully. Are you really trying to fight Dabo over this?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I said no room for cowards on a football team, you draw

Sep 21, 2014, 5:20 PM

a conclusion, not me. Dabo does not have a single shred more care for Clemson than I do... Last time I checked he went to Bama, not Clemson... I'm 39 and have bled with Tigers with every breath.

Fight Dabo, who are you ? You can't be serious considering coward was a reference to anyone who wants to sit on the bench with a towel over his head instead of keep his head high and keeping his spirits up. Whining is not allowed, any questions about that ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I said no room for cowards on a football team, you draw

Sep 21, 2014, 5:22 PM

You lost me, man. Sorry. I'm confused.

chad Kelly did! lol and smacked that capri sun out of his hand and made him call security, who escorted him out of the wez! booyah! swag don't play. no pun intended.

I agree, but it is part of being in the public light...right or wrong

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think you understand IBWG.

Sep 21, 2014, 5:14 PM

Did you even see that shank from 20 yards out?

IBWG probably would like to see Lakip forced to streak through the streets of downtown Clemson with the uprights duct taped to his back.

I know I would.

mhmmm.

Re: i'd be thinking if i can hit a 20 yarder, I start.***

Sep 21, 2014, 5:41 PM [ in reply to Re: i'd be thinking if i can hit a 20 yarder, I start.*** ]

probably feel he is not a good kicker and in over his head. what do you want him and his family to have, a juice box and participation certificate? sometimes things work and other times they don't! but I guess you would rather we say he is going to be great and keep the faith. he almost knocked out someone in the lower left end zone with his first kick at Georgia for gods sake.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If a kicker couldnt handle whats said on this board then....

Sep 21, 2014, 5:02 PM

he coudlnt handle the pressure of making a FG in Tally. So he's welcome to go elsewhere.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I doubt grumpy fans on a fan site will discourage

Sep 21, 2014, 5:11 PM

good players. If so, they will need to avoid the NFL if their skin is that thin. And probably most SEC teams. Have you ever followed Bama fans when they lose for example?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I actually know with 100 percent certainty that they do.

Sep 21, 2014, 5:11 PM

Their family members do as well. But (I think odd I guess) it is the trying times when the players need and appreciate our support the most- not when the going is good.

It's my understanding that these "recruits" understand

Sep 21, 2014, 5:31 PM

When a team "needs" a kicker. Do you agree ?

Kickers are not unlike a QB, RB, WR or any other position. They want to play early on, play for a good team like Clemson and strive for the biggest stage to play on. I'm positive that we will get a great kicker considering it is a need for our team. I'm hoping Lakip gets it going and can get better but he has been here 3 years and this year it's his turn to step up. He has failed on biggest stage, so should I thank him or be upset and wish he had made them ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hate it for the kid

Sep 21, 2014, 5:45 PM

Kickers have a different place on the team than most. Lots of pressure is put squarely on their shoulders, but that's part of the position. You have to be able to correct your mistakes, stay calm, and do what you've been training to do for 3 years. If you don't have mental fortitude there's no way you can be a kicker. I really hate it for Lakip. That was painful to watch, but if he can't score points for us he's useless on the team. Next man up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ehh, I usually agree with you butt...

Sep 21, 2014, 5:43 PM

If he didn't want the heat of being a major D1 kicker he could have gone to PC or Lander for free. Then he wouldn't have to worry about message boards.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lander has a football program? Serious Q btw

Oh no! Some meanies on Tnet said I suck!

Sep 21, 2014, 5:52 PM

If this is what Lakip or Stoudt actually do, then they're in for a world of hurt when they actually get real jobs (since I doubt either goes to the NFL).

Come on, people. I understand that these are college students, but they're also grown men, who are old enough to go fight for their country. If they can't take some criticism on a message board then maybe they shouldn't be on the field at all.
