I just remember thinking from the upper deck, well the defense and special teams are good enough to win VT the game without an offense.

We must have had 15 illegal procedure calls. We looked like a high school team - no, make that a jr high team.
I’ve only left two Clemson games early in disgust- the 70-33 WVa beat down in the Orange Bowl and the 1998 Va Tech game. I have to admit the drive back to Charleston after the Miami loss took forever!
Finally, how in the world do we get Va Tech at Blacksburg at night in December?? Looking like temps in the upper 20s/low 30s and a snowstorm coming in from the Midwest. Just perfect for a game that basically determines if Clemson makes it to the ACCCG for the Notre Dame rematch!

Yeah, they almost killed Streeter that day... only QB beating I've seen that bad was Whitehurst vs Texas Tech in a bowl.

Further, I know Bud Foster was a good DC, but how could you not know what they were going to do on Defense.
We ran for over 300 yards the week before vs GT against a mostly 5 man front and 7-8 in the box.
Lets not try to force our will and get the zone read running game going. Instead, we'll make Cullen Harper throw 66 times (that is the actual # of pass attempts from that game), and leave CJ and James Davis with 6 carries each.
GD Tommy Bowden and Rob Spence frustrated me to no end.

2) Out gained them by 170 yards on Offense, and...
3) Had more than twice the first downs, and...
4) Had the ball 4 minutes longer, but....
Lost by 18 points!!
