What would you change if you were CU basketball coach

Feb 8, 2017, 8:13 PM

If I were to replace BB the first thing I do is we now wear all Orange unis at home.
2nd thing, No on court player introductions. Instead the team gathers in a portal above the student section and they run down the aisle down to the court while the band plays Tiger Rag.

This should be good for about 2 more wins a year.

LOL

I'd rotate the court at least 90 degrees***

Install one of those little trampolines that would

Feb 8, 2017, 8:42 PM

let even our clumsiest kid flip and twist and dunk. I'd make an automatic cover for each end that would open on only the Tigers' end in each half.
BAM!
Also free popcorn and a soft-serve ice cream machine on the visiting team's bench.

Defensive scheme...

Feb 8, 2017, 9:07 PM

How often do we see Djitte (or Nnoko previously) follow a man out to the 3 point line, only to be left scrambling to get back down low before it's too late??

HATE this. Always winds up with our center out in no man's land while a guard is left underneath trying to fill in their spot against the opposing big men

Not near enough..............just sayin'***

Lots, but first I'd teach Open Post Motion for the Offense

Feb 8, 2017, 9:09 PM

Basically start leveraging the strength of the talent we have...
also focus on shot selection improving our statistical odds

Position and Block out to rebound (four rebounding and one back); pics, pic and roll, give and go w/man defense; high post and screens w/ zone defenses; teach how to break full court zone trap! screen for inbounder.

When my Mercedes does not run right, I find a qualified mechanic to fix it. It usually runs a lot better after that. Maybe we could apply similar logic to our BBall program. I'm not sure we t-netters are really that good at fixing our program, but a really good coach could. :)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Use the Grinnell system. If you dont know check their stats

Feb 9, 2017, 5:15 AM

At least it would be entertaining and we'd set all sorts of scoring records. We would necessarily win, but we dont win using traditional schemes so what difference dies it make. I'd rather lose 130-120 than 70-60.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, something different than anyone else in the ACC

Feb 9, 2017, 6:37 AM

Run people to death and keep shooting 3's. It would bring excitement to LJ and it cause other coaches some serious scheming.
